Good Cameras For Videography

I'm new to videography (though not cameras or computers) and I've been outfitting myself with midrange pro-sumer video equipment (not high-end stuff, but definitely not low-end either). Just to give you an idea of my level, I spent about 2 grand on camera, 2 grand on computer and editing software, 2 grand on lav, sound recorder, tripod, lights, stablizer, odds and ends. I'm not trained in sound mixing, so it's a waste for me to spend too much on headphones. I saw these Senal's on sale and after learning about specs/quality of sound, etc, I decided these would be good enough. Turns out they were better than my inexperienced ears could have imagined, to the point where I can actually hear the piano player's fingers hitting the key just before the piano note (which also sounds very good to me). So, for my level of field and editing work, these are good value for the money (though being on sale helped:) I also liked the detachable cords, the fact that the earphones folded up, and the pouch.

For my videography business I needed an affordable second camera whose footage would be able to stand beside that of the more expensive HDV cameras. I couldn't be happier with the results: clear, crisp, colorful footage that can compete with the higher end cameras. The only downside is that it's hard to control the gain.

I do professional videography but I started out years ago shooting on a Pentax K1000 film camera. I bought the a6000 primarily for shooting video with a large sensor camera. This camera is fantastic. At around $500 there is nothing that comes close in features and it has a aps C sensor which is found in 90% of all dslr and mirrorless cameras. I’ve seen canon 1” sensor point ant shoot cameras for hundreds more. I shoot low light wedding videos on this camera and the video looks fantastic. It also shoots video in Sony’s xavc 50 mbps format which is found on Sony cameras and pro camcorders costing thousands more. This small camera is a beast!

I use this for my small videography/photography company. It is GREAT! I have 2 cameras, 8 batteries, an LCDVF, 2 battery chargers, 3 filters and 4 lenses all very well protected inside of this case. Great buy.

I do event videography and have found myself in situations where I must operate two cameras at one time, ( wide shot and close up). The VZStealthDVX Stealth Zoom Controller enables me to adjust my shots easily with one hand. Besides shooting on a tripod I can also use it on my Jib. ( using an extension cord that I purchased along with it).

I have purchased a few cameras from B&H and am always pleased by their service and merchandise. This was the perfect combo for still photography and videography. The APS-C sensor is big enough for stills and yet smaller enough to keep the files manageable. Great autofocus. Image quality. Microphone jack and headphone jack. What more can anyone ask for.

I'm fairly new to the world of prosumer cameras. I started my videography/photography journey with an iPhone. Last year, I made the switch to the GH6 and I recently bought this lens for a client shoot. First of all, I love how compact this thing is. It fits in the palm of my hand (no joke). It is incredibly sharp and I love the look of the f1.7 aperture. I still have a lot to learn on this journey, but I think this lens is going to make it fun!
