Good First Underwater Camera

I have taken this thing rafting, and dunked it underwater. First off it is very buoyant with a Canon 1Dx, 24-70, and 70-200. But I originally bought this case to hold a 1Dx, 7D with battery grip, 16-32, 24-70, 70-200. To achieve this, the cameras had to be stand upright inside the case which significantly compresses the foam in the lid. Basically I would question the integrity of the padding and seal if the camera bodies need to be stood up. If you are considering this case for the gear I mentioned I would suggest looking at one size bigger.

My First camera ever and so far it such a good camera I definitely recommend this for if you just starting.

I took shots at dark. The camera saw what I could not. It is going to be quite useful in my underwater adventures.

If you are looking for an easy to use and no maintenance underwater point and shoot camera, this is the one. It's solid like a rock but feel comfortable in hand. It's fixed focus so no more struggles for focusing the right target. The snorkeling white balance preset generated quite accurate colors. And the picture quality is very good. It's easy to mount on a monopod to extend the reach for video. All in all it's an excellent travel underwater camera that can generate good results yet adding minimal load to your luggage. The attached photos are frame grab from the HD videos (about 2MB resolution). It's far from the normal single shot picture quality so this is for reference only.

I did not expect much from this camera but it blew me away. It has it's limitations but for the price it comes up with a great video. I took the kids to the pool and played around with it underwater. Really good underwater video. I even used the cam in my car for vloging and the mic on the camera delivered clear audio better than my camcorder does. For the price everybody into video should have one because the camera is good and cheap so if you run over it, drop it off a mountain or have a moose swallow it, it's no big deal.

I love this camera so far though I haven't put it to the underwater test yet. But I figure it will be good in the rain and when I can finally swim with it. I look forward to playing with it since I can't do anything like it with my wonderful cameras.

I bought this housing because I wanted to use a good compact Sony camera to capture underwater wildlife. I was frustrated with the GoPro and unimpressive still photos. The housing allows use of all buttons on the camera and functions that allow quality pictures underwater. I have included pictures from my first time use in Kona Hawaii. Make your own conclusions from my experience. I highly recommend this housing.

I highly recommend this if you have an underwater camera and want to make sure you don't lose it.
