Good Hiking Camera Backpack

I carry my camera with me most of the time, usually in my backpack (daypack, not hiking) despite having a good collection of camera bags, none of which seem to really meet my needs. I've been looking for a case that would provide a sufficient protection of my camera while it is inside my backpack but be small enough not to take up much space and easy to get in and out of the backpack. This BobyBag meets my needs perfectly. The BoyBag with Lens is a perfect fit for my Sony Alpha 850 which has a fairly large body comparaed to most digital SLRs. My walk around lens is a Sony 28-70 f2.8, again a bit larger than the standard kit lenses, and it too is a perfect fit in this case. Because the neoprene material stretches, it literally fits like a glove. I waited for a month to write my review to see if the function was as good as the fit and I have been completely satisfied. It is easy to take on and off and comes with an attached leash that allows it to hang from the camera body so that you don't have to worry about dropping it or setting it down somewhere when you're shooting. It's very light weight so that having it dangling from the camera when I'm shooting doesn't really bother me - though some may find it annoying. Because the bag is so small and light, I leave it on my camera even when it's out of my backpack and hanging around my neck. In the past, I've had to worry about my viewing screen getting scratched as it always seems to hang about the level of my belt buckle. This is no longer a problem since the BodyBag provides total coverage of the camera body. The Bag also protects against the occasional bump against hard surfaces when I'm hiking and climbing around with my camera around my neck. All in all, I have no complaints about this Bag and highly recommend it. For the cost, it's really cheap insurance for the protection it provides.

I found this easy to mount on my backpack and love having the quick access to my camera while hiking. I love it so much, I got a second one!

Small and lightweight, I throw it in the backpack when hiking.

I love it! This is the best solution to carrying my camera when I'm hiking. I have a backpack that I take when I go out on the trails, and I don't want to bring my camera bag. My solution to this was a black rapid strap that attaches to my backpack, but it ended up being very uncomfortable because it the camera kept dangling and I was always afraid that my camera was going to hit a rock or a tree. This is the best solution! When mounted on my backpack's shoulder strap, my camera is far more accessible, secure, and doesn't add much space or weight to what I'm carrying. The mount is also the same one used for the peak design tripod so it makes it even more convenient. My only complaint is that it isn't that great for heavy/large cameras... I use it mainly with the Z50 and have no problems, but with my D810 it feels similar to my cat wanting to pose like gargoyle on my shoulder when I'm walking around my house. This my sound like common sense, but I simply recommend keeping it light for obvious reasons.

The best dedicated camera backpack for hiking, however, since this pack has a rear access panel it limits the ability to have a fully adjustable harness for a perfect fit. I used this pack on a 13 mile hike with about 2000 feet of elevation gain and on the hike out I started to feel the soreness on my shoulders. There's absolutely nothing with the pack, it's just the trade off of comfort for ease of access. I may return this because I need the comfort of an adjustable harness from a traditional hiking backpack. This is AWESOME pack, you won't be disappointed unless you are a serious hiker and you don't need quick access to your gear. YMMV.

I got his clip for when i went hiking for a few days. I used in on my backpack strap and it was really convenient, the camera was help in place very well even on the more adventurous parts of the hike. All in all a great purchase and addition to my PD strap.

I use it so my D850 can be put in a hiking backpack without getting scratched or otherwise damaged. Works very well. The fit is very snug so a camera any bigger definitely wont fit in it.
