I can't compare it to others but I have three Matthews Apple Boxes and can say it's a good strong box. No moving parts. No frills. Just a good strong box. It will give you what you want from an apple box, except for the apples.

Get for those times I am moving from handheld to tripod for portraits and at such a reasonable price!

So far, these seem to be good photo storage boxes. I ordered them because I wanted acid-free boxes for my photo storage and was not certain the ones you can buy cheaply at other retail stores would be as good of quality. Time will tell I suppose how they hold up. They are basic boxes that come with dividers which is helpful.

I had the first version which was good, but kept moving around. This version ha a better build quality and the rubber under the plate really helps keep the plate in place. The spider system has saved my back.

... this tripod's smooth! Coming from someone who has owned many low-end tripods ($30-$60) over the years,I can say with complete confidence that this tripod blows the others out of the water. I used to use the low-end ones for doing stop-motion, where the camera was completely still and locked down and any camera movement I wanted was done in post (I used Adobe After Effects). When I started to do video, I realized that those tripods would not give me good looking moving shots. They're great for stationary work, not for panning/tilting. After searching the interwebs for a while, this tripod seemed like the best option because of the reviews and (quite obviously) the price. Upon opening it I knew that this was a good pick. A very sturdy body, still legs, and most of all: an incredible smooth fluid head, which is what I got it for. The only thing that could be a con about this tripod is that it can be difficult carrying it around on a shoot all day. It is heavy (a good thing when doing studio work or a shoot where you're not moving place to place) and can be tiresome when trying to carry it place to place. If you are looking for a tripod that will give you beautiful panning/tilting without breaking the bank, then this product is definitely for you. I highly recommend it!
