Good Settings For A Yeti Microphone

I decided to purchase a Blue Yeti Pro mic as I was making a music video for a school project and needed a relatively easy to use mic to record decent quality recordings. I decided to go with the Blue Yeti Pro from all the positive reviews given on it so far. It was recommended that I buy the Pro version of this mic over the normal one as there is a difference in sample rates. Basically, this mic is considered better for recording acoustic instruments. The Blue Yeti Pro is VERY easy to use. Plug it in and off you go! For a usb microphone the sensitivity in which it picks up noises is also really good. Every time I take in a breath, the Blue Yeti Pro records me doing it! A little embarrassing, but goes to show the great recording capabilities of this mic. The build quality of this mic is exceptional and is securely packaged in the box. I even had a little bit of trouble better the mic out of the moulded Styrofoam! Having the four recording settings is really handy and Blue makes sure you know which one is which with a well written concise manual talking about the settings. The only possible downside of this microphone is the issue of the low gain settings that many buyers may complain about. However, on the mac it is an easy fix. All you have to do is to click 'go' in the toolbar at the top of the screen, click on 'utilities' and find a application called 'Audio MIDI Setup'. Make sure the mic is connected to the mac before opening it up. Click on 'BLUE USB Audio 2.0' and turn the input and output settings up to the very right so that the values should be at 1. With that adjustment, the microphone should have more gain, so you don't have to turn the gain knob up all the way in a desperate bid for more gain. The Blue Yeti Pro is also a fairly bulky, heavy mic. But since I don't move it around much, for me at least, this is not an issue.

I had heard a lot about the Yeti microphone, and I feel that all the good things I heard certainly did it justice! It works wonderfully for what I use it for - I record 'voice overs' for various instructional materials.

If you're looking for a good - no, a great USB microphone, look no further! I don't think there's much I can say to sing praise about the Blue Yeti, because everyone knows it's an amazing microphone... But I will say that I'm in no way disappointed. For someone who does voice acting and commentaries like me, it's perfect! I can't say how well it goes with recording instruments or singing, but I doubt those are any less stunning when recorded with this hardware. Highly recommended!

I looked around for a good microphone to have under $200 and I came across the Blue Yeti. Mainly going to be using it in the fall for school, but I have tested it already with recordings in audio, video, and calls from my computer. So far I have been pleased with the sound I get from the Blue Yeti, I think the cost is worth it for the things I've used it for and am going to use it for.

I use the microphone to upload web based content on my websites and have found the Yeti Blue Microphone to perform very well. I recommend it to anyone thinking of purchasing something for doing podcast, audio sound bytes, etc. The price was great as well.

I've owned the Blue Yeti Microphone for years. The Pro Version is even better.

I use the Yeti to record multi-track a cappella music. I find myself mostly using the cardioid setting since I am the only one singing, however the other three settings are of equal quality and I foresee myself using these settings to record small group performances. I am amazed by the ease with which I learned how to use the Yeti. I took it out of the box, plugged it in and within 5 minutes I was recording. The sound quality is also incredible for a mic this inexpensive. As with any mic it could be improved by putting it on a shock mount and using a pop filter but even without these two items there is very little unwanted noise. I was a little surprised by how large it was, but that is hardly a complaint. I highly recommend this product to other potential buyers.
