Google Internet Router Guest Network

I wish I bought this sooner, but better late than never. This router is fantastic. It has replaced five google mesh units in my house with this single router. I get signal three houses down the street on my phone. It has been a major improvement in regards to gaming and other configurable QoS. Ditch all your mesh garbage and get a solid router like this and it makes life a lot easier. Remember, PC 6E cards are super cheap so do the upgrade and use the full power of this router. I also have a house full of phones doing 6E and it's working great. The guest network options are also super useful for me where I can have guest networks for work, iot devices around the house, and then my regular network for my family.

I wanted a better solution for my home network than another router that looks like it could take off for space at any moment to return to its home planet. I have a Google Fiber 8g connection and I wanted something that allows a connection straight from the Google Fiber Jack to the WAN Port of the Dream Machine without needing to go through Googles bridged router. I then hardwired Unifi Access Points (uses PoE - no power cables!) and I can upgrade them individually as WiFi tech improves. Genius. This gives you full network routing, firewall, route control, DHCP, VPN and as a bonus also works as IP cam video recorder. The setup and configuration is a breeze too. If you are novice in the world of networking I would not suggest this, but if you are power user, this thing is a beast. It has more than enough power to handle a home full of data hogs all using the connection at the same time with no impact to speeds or quality of use. Another fun feature is you can have a second internet connection connected that works as either a fail-over or the Dream Machine can use both simultaneously and handles all the necessary routing internally so clients don't see any impact. I can't imagine buying another home router from the normal consumer brands after using this.

I have a large first generation Google Wifi network at home. With several 1st gen Google Wifi hooked up to the main router via Ethernet, and two 1st gen Google Wifi operating in wireless mesh-mode. I used this (2nd gen) Google Nest Wifi Router and Point to extend my network, by hard-wiring the router to extend my existing network, and running the Point as a mesh extension. Works well together with my existing network and allows me to roam around the house with my devices.

I upgraded my internet to gig and needed a new modem and router that could handle the new speed since my Google WiFi couldn’t. This set up just as easy and has great coverage. Highly recommend.

Great router. Granular setup when logged into rather than using an app. Internet speed on home network tripled. The old wifi 5 router could not absorb the bandwidth being provided by the cable company. Buy it. You won't be disappointed!

I have Synology NAS devices and thus expected the management software on this router to be good but it is even better than I expected. For example I can control (block) internet access to individual connected devices such as smart-plugs that I don't want phoning home to China and sending my Wi-Fi password. Can also prioritize some devices to get more bandwidth when the network is busy. So TVs don't buffer streaming video just because somebody else is downloading a big file. Configuration options are good for home or office use and includes security features I've never seen on other routers other than the Firewalla network firewall hardware. Can't comment on Wi-Fi range except that it works great everywhere in my apartment. I really appreciate that it has a tiny physical footprint -- unlike so many newer routers it takes up very little space on my office shelf. I don't have a backup internet provider so I can't use the feature that will switch to another internet source when the primary one fails. Even lets you configure an in-router VPN with free licenses for remote connections to your network. Bottom line it provides more than I need right now but has features I may want in the future, so I'm happy.

I originally purchased two, and liked them so much, I bought two more for my guest bedrooms! They’re small and unobtrusive, and I like that they are Google-enabled. First thing I do when I wake up is ask my Lenovo Smart Clock what the weather forecast is for today. The display dims quite nicely at night. If an alarm is set, the display can gradually brighten so I’m not assaulted out of bed. I highly recommend these clocks.

I really loved my original Google mesh network, but the access points started to fail. I was looking for a decent upgrade, but the new nest system was not seeming to hot. I read good reviews about this product and pulled the trigger. This system has about the same range as my old google system, but with a much faster speed. The app allows for instant review of all connections to the network (decent security) and offsite management of the network (good for troubleshooting for my parents). In the month I've used the system all seems to be going great. Setup was seamless, performance is great and management through software is on par with the giants like google. The promise of expandability is the icing on the cake, as it allows this to be a great start. 100% would recommend.

Probably the best router to future proof your network.
