Workstation / Gaming PC build - I have 4 VM running and playing a games at the same time. The cpu doesn’t even feel the workload. Keeping it less than 50% cpu load. Amazing I keep throwing heavy task at this machine and I am not stressing the cpu at all. Build. X570 motherboard 64 GB RAM AIO cooler Nvme drive Nvidia 2080 I was one of the lucky ones to get this at the launch. Shout out to the B&H support team. They are the best. Love this CPU. Other than being able to find this particular cpu in stock, it's also a great option for gaming. Paired with 16GB 3600MHz RAM, and a Vega 64, I can play Half Life Alyx and Cyberpunk 2077 on max settings (no ray tracing) with solid frame rates. Bear in mind this cpu does seem to run a bit warm, I'm using a Noctua NH-D15 air cooler in a Lian Li Tu150 case and with prime95 I get temps in the 80s, however, in more realistic situations like gaming, I only get temps in the 60s. Of course if you can afford the 5900 or 5950 go for it, but if this cpu is in your price range it's a great option. 5 |

This CPU is great for pretty much every use case. It's absolutely the fastest gaming processor on the market, and also quick enough that you can run a few virtual machines on it without causing issues. Those who need to run more than a few VMs at once may want to consider one of the higher end models with more cores, but in general, developers could do far worse than this bad boy. Fair bit of warning though, it runs hot. This is by design according to the engineering team, but it will be warmer than you're used to. The processor will run to the absolute thermal limit to hit its boost clocks. Mine hits 84 C under full load from Prime95 with the best air cooler on the market. Under everyday usage though, it hovers around 50 C, which is quiet enough to not be an issue. 5 |
