Grey Plastic Drawers Target

Buy this 30 Grey target, set an approximate white balance icon for your environment, get into the light that you are shooting, fill your viewfinder completely with the grey target in consistent light, set shutter speed at zero then up it +1/3 stop, focus and click. You have aproximately compensated for Ansel Adam's K factor (18% vs 12.5% true grey). Then bracket upwards three times each by 1/3 f-stops, take a look at each image, choose the proper exposure for your light temperature and lock it in. Different light temperatures show a flat target between zero to + 3/3 compensation dependent upon the model of camera body.

I use the 24 with my canon 5d iii. I initially tossed and turned about which size to get. I believe that the middle of the road i just right where you can stand far enough away to not be in someone's face when using the target. I found the product to be of high quality material and folds down to a comfortable compact size into it's carry bag. I use the target initially to set exposure in conjunction with the histogram. I also white balance off it. I'm very happy with the results. I had previously used a grey card, however this is much more practical for outdoors work. I have read other reviews that have had issues with the accuracy of the grey etc. I'm not in a position to support or refute these claims, but can only state that I'm more than happy with the end result that I obtain from using this product. I've had no issues with the unfolding of the target re concerns expressed with it not coming out flat. I have been able to straighten it out, as per the instructions on the DVD... yes... sometimes reading the instructions actually helps.

I have 4 of these. They took the place of random storage in plastic bags and the bottom of drawers. I like them because they are waterproof and secure, yet easy to open without breaking a fingernail, unlike some other competitors. Not expensive and highly recommended.

18% grey backgound with a target so the autofocus works. Allows the white balance to correct for the color of light I am shooting in.

This is great for getting both white balance and focus (with the target in the center of the grey). The tag/loop on the top is great for hanging on a stand, in lieu of a subject. Great non-reflective surface too!

If you have been using a grey card to set your grey balance, like I was, dump it and get one of these. Seriously, it folds up small, makes a great large target when it's open, it won't fray, crease, or dog ear like a grey card, and it's substantial enough that you won't lose it or not be able to find it when you need it. I waited way too long to step up. Also, I love the other white side for setting slog exposure on my Sony FS7. I use an Atomos Shogun with the FS7, and it offers a huge histogram display. Near or relatively far away this target creates a nice horizontal line on the display that makes setting exposure a snap. It's not sexy like a camera, but it's easy to use and reliable. It appears to be well made. I think if I treat it well, it should last a decade or more. It's affordable, get one.

I've only had the EZ Balance a few weeks but I have tested it several times and really like the color accuracy I get using the Grey target. What I particularly like is that while it unfolds to a good size, I can fold it back up and stuff it in the carry bag for easy transport.

So far so good! My last grey card was just an 8x10 chunk of hard plastic by Digital Grey Kard which seemed to add a slight blue-tone to all my photos. I lost it and replace it with this EZYBalance one and I can't complain. Colours are consistantly bang on especially indoors and on the mountain (I shoot winter sports). Can't find anthing to complain about so far :).

Exactly what I needed for lighting up backstage rack drawers. Just as described.
