In 1969 I saw a solid-body electric guitar with a three-inch amplifier built into the face of the guitar. The tiny speaker was powered by a nine-volt battery inserted in the back of the instrument. Fantastic, I thought, why don't they make a suction-cup amp that sticks onto the face of the guitar? A zillion years later they did and it is fine. 5 |

B+W is one of the top filter manufacturers, and is based in Germany. This avoids the China connection (my preference) and does not degrade the product; in fact it may increase the quality. I screwed this over the front element of a brand new Nikon 500mm lens and it may never come off. The UV Haze filtering part is important for long distance shots like made of the Wolf Moon rise over four miles away across Sarasota Bay. It also serves as a necessary protection against bad things happening to the lens. Why would I spend thousands on a top lens and not protect it with a top quality filter? 5 |

I researched various manufacturers and settled on these ones based on watching a million YouTube videos. I was initially considering the Nikon Monarch 5's and Monarch 7's, then discovered the Terra ED 8x42's. They are bright and sharp, and are great considering their 'budget' classification in the binocular world. 5 |
