I have a vintage (1978) amplifier whose preamp isn't working. A local repair shop wanted nearly $200 to fix it, provided they could still get parts. I bought the PP999, plugged it into a line-level input and started enjoying my record collection again! It works well and is very cost effective! 5 |

I use the Mi ate Pro for Podcasting and for recording screencasts. It keeps me from having to do complex set-up of an amplifier. I just plug the microphone into the Mi ate and the Mi ate into may laptop. The sound is very clear and set-up and use is so easy. The pre-amp doesn't seem to have a lot of power for high-volume recording, so I don't know how well it would work for recording music. But it's perfect for podcasting and screencasting. 5 |

In 1969 I saw a solid-body electric guitar with a three-inch amplifier built into the face of the guitar. The tiny speaker was powered by a nine-volt battery inserted in the back of the instrument. Fantastic, I thought, why don't they make a suction-cup amp that sticks onto the face of the guitar? A zillion years later they did and it is fine. 5 |
