Hand Held Audio In Ear Monitors

This is way better then the hand held models. I like it very much.

I am a sports cinematographer and these are perfect for in-ear-monitors for great sounding audio if you have someone mic'd up and need to drown out ambient noise. Additional benefit, fans don't bother you as much when they see you have these in.

This is the first time I've used in-ear monitors and I didn't feel or hear a difference from my over head headphones. I like that these are discreet and are much easier to pack and travel with. When shooting hand-held doc footage I tend to have just one in one ear so that I can monitor the audio while still having a clear idea of what's going on around me. The biggest selling point to these is that I do not find the quality to be any different than my over ear headphones from Sony or Audio-technica. In the description these are marketed as being usable for regular listening to music. I definitely would not recommend these for that given that these are truly designed to monitor audio so they lack the bass that regular listening devices add - this is a good thing. In other words, it might sound weird if you intend to use these for regular listening to music. [I have received this product in exchange for my honest review]

Unbelievable sound reproduction from a hand held device. I recorded an outdoor concert of a friend of mine and even the band was amazed at the sound quality of the recordings. The stereo separation with the XY mic was incredible. the ease of setup and the intuitive controls made it easy for even me with no prior audio experience to record a high quality GREAT SOUNDING Concert. I have recorded 2 events so far and recorded 4-5 hrs of audio and still have 3/4 batty life on 4 AA batteries. I added a 64 GIG card and haven't even scratched the 5% mark on usage at 96.0 K 24 BIT recording. Highly recommended.

If you want clean, higher level audio when shooting double system video with the H4N, or any hand held digital recorder with 1/4 line in inputs, this line transformer will bring audio, even from dynamic microphones, up to decent levels, by about (unscientifically calculated) 6dB, much higher than with the XLR inputs. You can now set your gain at 75-80 instead of 100 to get the levels you want. The Hosa MIT-156 does the same for recorders with only the 3.5mm stereo input. It is a gotta have for hand held digital audio recording with external mics. However, you will loose 48v phantom power using this technique. Make sure your condenser mics run off internal batteries as well as 48v phantom power.

There is virtually no hand movement on the shaft of the RE50N/D-B hand held mic and the audio quality is outstanding. It replaces an older RE50 that has seen a finer day and the difference was noticeable. A great investment that is worth the addl. dollars.
