I shoot 50mm handheld wide open all the time, super 35mm. This photo lens does not feel like a photo lens, with its solid build and unique lens hood. The bokeh is gorgeous. Contrast is perfect. I also like how it flares and streaks just a bit when u want it to. It makes me want to buy more Milvus lenses. 5 |

The attached photo is straight out of the camera, handheld at 1/4 sec, f22, using a7ii. Great combo. Lens is fast and accurate. Not immune to water spots. 5 |

Just got it. It did come in 1 1/2 days even though the big snowstorm is raging. I have tried it briefly. A photo is enclosed, taken handheld with a greenish desklamp for lighting. I've noticed on looking at it 100% that there is some fringing, but I'm sure with LR or PS that will go away. Other than that, I have no problems. I might use this for video in which case it's loud on the AF. But for landscape (smaller objects) and portraits, this lens is really beautiful. Snowflakes and bokeh can create wonderful winter scenes. I have other Rokinons, all MF. They are great. This one adds the AF and is even greater! Nice, simple design and all electronic. For the price, you cannot beat it. Get it on sale! 5 |

I don't know what led to the delay from about April to September, since the delay seemed to happen starting before virus or fires, but the lens was worth waiting for. The previous version is a great lens, but this one tops it. The previous version had a nearest focusing distance of 1.1 meters, at any zoom. This one focuses down to 1 m at 200mm and to 0.5m at 70mm. That improvement is useful. There's a lot you can do with this lens at close hand, from coins to pets to flowers to portraits. The S lens is hefty at about 3 lb, but is slightly lighter than the previous one. I leave to others to do scientific measurements of the optics (some reviews say the S lens is extraordinary), but I can say that it gives sharp images and copes well with low light. The first attached photo was taken with a Z7, from perhaps 5 ft away, then imported into Lightroom and from there exported as a 4MB unsharpened file. The light in the room was pretty low and the camera was handheld. The second photo, the flowers, was again about playing with limits. It was taken handheld when it was quite dark, using 4500 ISO. I used 1/200 and a 1.4 teleconverter at 280mm and f/8. The photo is unsharpened in post. Finally the last one, again about limits: the apples were photographed at f/32 at 1/250 and ISO2500, with an outcome that is acceptable, considering (this was no adjustments, no sharpening, and could readily have been tuned up). In other words, the new S lens is a delight to use, especially under harder conditions. Nikon is further reducing the viability of excuses for technically poor photos with their rapid camera and lens design advances of the past couple of years. That's putting the challenge where it belongs--getting to the right places at the right times and working on composition. 5 |
