I just added the WD 4TB Elements External Desktop Hard Disk Drive to my back up solution (6 hard drives) and Windows 10. I disconnected the power and USB cable from a full WD hard drive and replaced it with this new drive and fired it up. It works great, just like I would expect from Western Digital.

It's easy to use (the Synology Disk Station and security software) and it's affordable. I use it at my house, my office, and I installed a Synology Disk Station server in three restaurants and two bars, so I'm happy with it. I use it in combination with Vivoteck and Hikvision POE cameras, both of which have worked out well for me.

My Flir DVR Security Camera system had a hard drive failure after several years. I got this as a replacement. Opened DVR Case, unplugged 2 cables on hard drive, removed 4 screws holding the drive, swapped out the old drive for the new and reversed order to put it back together. Formatted drive with DVR and my system is back up and running perfectly now!
