Hard Disk Hdd Ssd

When my mechanical HDD hard disk with the data partitions notified me that it was in trouble, I turned to B&H for a reasonably priced 2T SSD replacement by Crucial, the Micron people. I was able to install the new SSD, partition it and back up everything to it, and by now enjoy the quiet assurance that everything is back to normal, but better, smoother and quicker than ever before.

I replaced an OEM HDD on a Windows 8 HP G7-2246nr laptop with this SSD using Macronium Reflect Free. Noticed improved speed right away. Old HDD was hot to touch when removed. Glad it's gone. Here is what I did. 1) Created system image of entire old HDD to additional external USB HDD using Windows 8 File Recovery tool just in case. 2) Purchased USB 3 to SATA cable. 3) Installed Reflect and viewed support page that explains how to use Reflect. IMPORTANT 4) Cloned all partitions of old HDD in the same order that they are listed under source disk (0) in Reflect. Since is was downsizing from 512 GB old HDD to 240 GB SDD, I paused after dragging C: into destination disk to resize it down to 197 GB and set the drive letter from Auto to C. 5) Added all subsequent partitions including D for recovery (25 GB). Finished Clone keeping all partitions at original size except for C drive. 5) Shut down laptop and swapped out the hard drives and rebooted. Windows 8 recognized the SSD and there was no need to go into EUFI.

This is a great product. I've converted a few computers from the old HDD drives to SSD drives and I use this dock whenever I need to access the data from the older drives. This is working perfectly. It is described as plug and play, and I can verify that is true. It works right away for me, no need for drivers. I connected it and it was seen immediately by my computer. This dock is also very versatile. It can hold 3.5 hard drives (HDD) as well as 2.5 drives (SSD). I'm thinking of buying some of the 2.5 SSD's to use with this for storage and back-ups, which will save me the expense of buying enclosures. Comes with a USB-B to USB-A 3.2 cable which is a nice addition. Being hot-swappable is convenient. And this might sound silly, but I like that it has a power button so I can leave it connected to my computer but turn it off when not in use. I really like that feature. Was looking for a low cost hard drive toaster to clone my hdd to a ssd. Hooked up via usb, transferred my files and was up and running in no time

Just what I needed, more storage, affordable and it works. I was going back and forth between 4TB HDD ($$) or 4TB SSD ($$$$). I don't need a hard drive for speed but to back up my video footage. Seagate 4TB BarraCuda SATA III 3.5 5400 rpm is doing the job right.

Laptop was reporting hard drive as failing. Decided to replace my 5400rpm HDD with an SSD boot drive and a 7200rpm HDD into this Data Doubler. Instructions could have been a little better, but were easy enough to follow. Installation really was not that difficult. Kit came with all tools necessary for job and there were a few extra screws in the pack just in case I lost one of those tiny things. Tripled my onboard storage!

Was able successfully clone Windows from original hard-disk and replace it with this OWC SSD on my new laptop. Time will show how long it will last - but having OWC SSDs on my MacPro2008 and MacPro2010: Bravo OWC!

I had a 6-year-old desktop with a regular (legacy) hard disk drive. The desktop was painfully slow when doing anything. After installing the SSD, the desktop instantly sprang to life. It's like a brand-new computer. If anyone has a slow computer, and it has a legacy hard disk, pop an SSD in and you will be amazed by the performance difference.

Replaced 500Gb HDD with this SSD very impressive.

This SSD works like a charm, much better and faster than the old HDD!
