I use this Hard Drive to store movies, and Share them across my network. Sharing must be allowed, but the Drive itself is 100% Plug-and-Play. Transfer rate is Fast using a USB 2 connection. As a working photographer, I keep all my photos on two external hard drives. One my working drive and the other as a back up kept at home. I need a rugged external hard drive because I work on files in two locations and LaCie is the best! 5 |

I bought this for a portable hard drive which I move from home to work every day. It is made very firm, so it should protect the drive very well. I transport it inside another soft padded pack, because if I were to drop it, the shock would damage or destroy the drive. No hard drive should be dropped, even with good protection. The inside is equipped with an elastic strap to secure the drive and a mesh slot on the inside back cover for the cord. It works for me. 5 |

The drive is an excellent adjunct to my laptop. It holds everything from my desktop so I need not clutter the laptop's hard drive and, on return home, it makes it simple to copy and transfer what I've done on the laptop back to the desktop seamlessly. 5 |
