When I saw this mega 16TB hard drive listed on sale for $269.99, I had to jump on it. That's $16.87 per TB of storage! And with using B&H's Payboo credit card, I didn't have to pay a 8% state sales tax, which was a big plus and a further discount. This WD Elements drive is just as I expect - a solid performer that doesn't disappoint. On average, data transfer rate is up there at over 150mb/sec. At times it even hit 200mb+/sec. I have yet to find reliability as an issue with WD drives as I have never had a WD drive that failed on me - unlike Seagate, which I have quite a few of them lying around being used as paperweights!

I needed a new hard drive for my pictures and movies, and this 1TB hard drive did the job. It was on sale, and came to my door quickly. Its USB 3.0 connection is super fast, and I can't complain about anything. It's compact and sleek - some smooth exterior, as well as matted.

I purchased this external hard drive so i could back up my 2012 MacBook Pro with time machine. I was able to format the drive for the time machine and had absolutely no issues doing it. I was also able to partition it so it can also be used as a regular drive so i can store photos and videos. Out of the box, the device was flawless and powered up immediately when i plugged it in with USB. No power adapter necessary. When it's running when its recording or reading, its silent and there are no vibrations or rattling noises. Considering the 4TB storage capacity and the fact it's not SSD, this is quite a small device. I've been using Western Digital for over a decade and have never had any issues. In my opinion, they are the best devices and i would recommend them to anyone. They are the best bang for the buck!

I got this hard drive for a system backup. I am checking to see how it works with Apple's Time Machine. So far it is working very well. I will then get another one just like it to rotate Off-site to protect my data. This is in addition to a cloud storage.

I bought this hard drive to use with Time Machine on my Mac. I literally just plugged it in, then the computer asked me if I wanted to use it as my Time Machine backup and I clicked yes. Presto. Done. Didn't install any software, it's just plug and play. (I had to buy a new external drive because I got a new computer and the old backup drive would be completely overwritten if I used it for Time Machine. This one is about 1/20 the size of the old. Since I work upstairs in my bedroom at night sometimes, it's nice to have an external drive that is completely portable. This way I tend to plug it in for a backup more often instead of waiting until I am downstairs again.) I actually bought an extra one for a different computer.

I was using a 1TB hard drive for my old iMac which had a 250gb HD. This year I upgraded to a new machine which has a 2TB SSD and ran out of space on the old external so this 6TB drive is everything I'll need for a backup disk, at a great price. Setup was easy. I had to reformat to Mac OS Extended (Journaled), but Disk Utility makes that super easy, let it run backup overnight while the machine was in sleep mode, and everything is running great. There's definitely peace of mind in having all of my data backed up.

I bought this hard drive to use with my MacBook Pro Time Machine. The drive had to be reformatted first, which was easy using the Mac Utility program. I found a video on YouTube on to use the program. Once it was formatted, is was just a matter of plugging the drive to my computer and the back up began. Finally, the price for a 1.5 TB was great.

I upgraded my Windows 7 machine from a 1TB to a 2TB hard drive it was easy to install. I used Clonezilla Live to transfer an image of my old drive to the new one and then expanded the 1TB partition to a 2TB partition using AOMEI Partition Assistant pro.
