Hard Flash Portraiture

Portraiture... mostly.

Absolutely love this flash. The portability and power make it a perfect solution for all types of portraiture photography. I shoot quite a few sports portraits, both indoors and out, and the flash is perfect. I already owned one AD400 and decided to add a second. Setup is simple and the flash is easy to use. I have never had a misfire, which is a big plus!

I'm a professional photographer specializing in portraiture. How embarrassing was it when I attempted to use my remote settings on my SB800 flash with my Nikon D7000 and the flash only worked intermittently? Very embarrassing. With my set of pocket wizards (what took me so long to make the decision to purchase them I just can't fathom) I get the results I was hoping for every single time. I also bought eight rechargeable batteries and two Watson chargers, so I'm ready for anything. I couldn't be happier. And the price was terrific.

I was looking for a quality affordable alternative to the Nikon SB series flashes and this flash is definitely that flash. I've been using it mostly for portraiture and it has held up nicely. Paired with Yongnuo triggers, it's a great portable system.

Used for low light shots where I didn't want flash. Also great to,isolate my subject In portraiture and macro projects.

I sometimes use an 81A for portraiture especially when shooting flash outdoors in 5500K light. The 81A tones down the blue light and gives a warm, pleasing image. I saw this 81A polarizer and decided to give it a try. It also gives a warm tone to my images in bright sunlight.

I am an amateur photographer just starting to explore portraiture work using multiple camera flash units. I wanted a flash meter so I could set my fill and back ground flashes a specific number of f-stops below my main flash. This flash unit allows you to have data on up to flash units a one time. It is easy to use, and has everything I need.

I bought this product because I wanted to try ring-flash portraiture. It works beautifully, a ring-flash is a new way to see the world, and almost anyone can afford to at this price. The only major concern is how flimsy the plastic hot-shoe mount is, would it kill them to make it metal? I'd pay the extra $5, wouldn't you? The only other minor issue is that the flash tube doesn't give an intact circle when reflected in pupil highlights but can't we all fix that with 3 seconds of Photoshop work? Ha. Or a White-Out pen? Buy it, but don't expect the hot-shoe not to snap off during some acrobatic photo manoeuvre.

Using for portraiture. Much better than on-camera flash. Softbox produces nice smooth light to dark transitions.
