I was going to use it with my HD camera - and it works just great.

I'm using this HD to backup my movies and pictures, its very simple to use, just hook up the usb to laptop and and power plug. Then you just copy and paste from side to side as easy as a USB flash drive.

This is the third WD HD that I have purchased. I am using it for backup photo storage. Small footprint, quickly accessible with USB 3.0. My other two have lasted a long time and I am hoping this one follows suit. I bought the 2TB model.

I'm using this as a removable HD for diaster backup. I keep the drive in our safe in a hardrive storage case waiting for the inevitable PC failure. Solidly built drive, plenty fast for this use and I assume will outlast me and my PC.

I have now qty-3 HDs I use as backups for my photos, video and important files. I just added this 6TB to my fleet of qty-2 4TB HDS. I give this 5 stars both for this new 6TB HD as well as the good luck I've had with the same family of HD in the 4TB size. BTW- You can NEVER have too many backup copies of your once in a lifetime family photos, videos, etc. I had a backup HD (different brand than WD) crash last week... it was 10 years old and sat in my safe not powered up or spinning most of the time but still failed. 3 full backups is -not- overkill considering you can get a decent 6TB drive for around $150 or so bucks. I keep qty-2 in the fire safe and qty-1 on my desk.

I needed a good large capacity external HD for data backup. The WD_Black 5TB P10 for me was an excellent choice. I formatted it as NTFS with a 4K cluster size, as recommended by tech websites, since I only use Windows. Even though it is named as a Game Drive it is really JUST a HD that can be used for anything a HD is used for. Also, love paying with B&H Payboo and saving the tax.

I was using a 1TB hard drive for my old iMac which had a 250gb HD. This year I upgraded to a new machine which has a 2TB SSD and ran out of space on the old external so this 6TB drive is everything I'll need for a backup disk, at a great price. Setup was easy. I had to reformat to Mac OS Extended (Journaled), but Disk Utility makes that super easy, let it run backup overnight while the machine was in sleep mode, and everything is running great. There's definitely peace of mind in having all of my data backed up.
