I was tasked with having users mirror their laptop on a tv (after the built was complete) without software and I have found the answer. A facility had just finished a renovation and the tv was mounted, power was installed and network drops were in place but no thought had gone into how to utilize the boardroom to its full potential. After much discussion with endusers and management the most cost effective way would be to use an HDMI extender without any software installation required (since most laptops are locked down these days). With cables plugged in (HDMI and CAT5/6) all is left for the user to do is to plug in HDMI to their laptop and we now have the laptop screen on the tv. Another great product from Startech.com. I used to have to watch CWTV and other website tv shows on my iPad or laptop, or plug it via HDMI port to my TV to watch, but now I can stream directly to the TV (since LG doesn't have apps for websites like CWTV and the web browser isn't really functional for streaming videos).

If your needing to mirror to HDMI - this is the only product that works correctly.

I recently also bought a Samsung UHD monitor from B & H to use with my laptop, and though the monitor includes an HDMI cable, a friend recommended my buying the Mini DisplayPort Adapter Cable for even higher quality than the HDMI. Not only was it inexpensive, it definitely makes a worthwhile difference in sharper and richer picture quality, and would highly recommend this product to anyone wishing to improve their monitor picture quality.

While Samsung makes a wonderful TV, the HDMI ports are poorly designed, located on the side of the unit. This causes strain on the cable terminals due to the weight of the cables. The Pearstone 90-degree adapter allows the cable to fit into the port vertically, removing the strain. Terminals fit snugly in the high quality adapters.

I have the Arc with two Play 1s for surrounds, with a Samsung TV using HDMI. Had the original playbar (black) so visually Arc in white is much better - the shape, curves, all metal design and touch buttons now look great under the TV. Sound from TV (programs and streaming) is really great, and the quality of music is really pleasing. For us it's a upgrade in quality compared to using just TV speakers. Family happy!
