I often use my modem on, a Windows 10 computer, to make phone calls, and need to hear the dial-up sounds - to make sure the call is going through, and there is no busy signal. I tried 2 other modems (Lenovo & Sewell) that didn't produce dial-up sounds. Based on the recommendation of a US Robotics tech support rep., I tried the US Robotics model USR5639. It does make dial-up sounds, and dials very fast. 5 |

I'm not building anything super fantastic in it as I'm building something for playing retro games with PC emu on Debian. Small and has a pleasing aesthetic, wish it came in beige but white will have to do. Installed this with ease and slapped a Corsair i150 Capellix water cooler on it. My house was 25 degrees while benchmarking. Idled at 34 Celsius and under full load in Cinebench never went beyond 72. Paired with a Western Digital SN750 NVME drive, booting to windows 10 is literally almost faster then it takes for my monitor to wake up. Everything is super fast within windows and benchmarks number 4 in Cinebench. 5 |
