Heat Only Thermostat Wifi With Temperature Lock Lockout

I've been wanting a smart thermostat since we moved into our home earlier this year. When winter rolled in and the heat had to be turned on, I could no longer do without it. My house was built in 1926 and still has steam heat with radiators in all the rooms - which I love - but we get crazy temperature variances from room to room and floor to floor (4 levels, leaky leaded glass windows, who knows the status of the insulation - you get the idea). I found myself adjusting the thermostat (or forgetting to) several times a day - in the morning, in the afternoon, after dinner and before bed and with a different schedule/temps on the weekend just to be comfortable as we move to different areas of the house. The ecobee not only allows me to set the schedule with the desired temps on a day by day basis, but it also has the additional sensors so that I can tell it to ignore one sensor and focus on another or to average the temp across 2 or more areas. This means that when it's time for bed, I can tell it to keep my bedroom at the temp that's comfortable and not worry about the rest of the house. Given that when my living room is 70 degrees (which is where the old thermostat was) my bedroom could be as warm as 78 degrees, this is a really nice feature. I haven't had enough time to see what it's going to do to our energy bills, but I have to believe it's going to save us money. Even if it doesn't, I'm a lot more comfortable and spending less time wondering if I forgot to adjust the temperature. Install was pretty easy, but we did have to run a new wire from the boiler. Because our system is old, we don't get to take advantage of all the features, but the ones we do use are well worth it. We'll be getting a second one for the air conditioner in the spring. I don't want to go through another summer without the extra sensors. Thanks to ecobee, I don't have to!

It feels like I have a thermostat in my pocket with the use of my cell phone. All temperature changes happens instantly at my command. It allows me to heat my main level before kids go down to eat their breakfast before school.

You have to read the instructions about the lockout system. Since it's meant for keeping in your pocket, there is a system where you can lock the power button, so it doesn't activate from pressure when you lean on something, Also, the LED light in higher setting can possibly burn you - or items in pocket, when it shines directly onto them, so it's important to lock. Once you get to know how, it just takes a second. I would just suggest about the instruction sheet - it has very small letters - as with many items from China, I'm not sure why. Do they have better eyesight in China, or are they just trying to save on paper?! With all due respect, a little larger letters would be easier.

The Nest Temperature Sensor is a must have addon for any Nest Thermostat. It can measure temperature in specific room and set the right temperature.

The Nest Temperature Sensor is a great way to measure another temperature in the house for either warmer or cooler temperatures. Bedroom, upstairs, basement, etc. Ties in to the main Nest thermostat. You can pick to set the desired temperature based on the sensor, or schedule different temperatures. Have it run off the sensor at night, and off the thermostat in the day. Very easy to set up.

This is my second ecobee thermostat. This one works great with my heat pump. I particularly like the eco + feature.

I really like being about to select which sensor the thermostat controls the temperature at. I do wish they were a bit more automated into the app but the way they work is ok.

I love this thermostat. It’s made a huge difference on my electricity bill and I love that I can lock it into certain settings.

My wife the dial twiddler would always set our thermostat too high as she thought it would heat up faster if if done that way eg. Accelerator on a car. This unit with the help of Alexa listens to her and never over heats the house.

Switching from another major smart thermostat, it is a trade between aesthetic and functionality. Ecobee has so many options allowing me to tweak every aspect of a heat pump + aux heat system. I really hope ecobee allows me to customize the stand by screen like the competitor.
