My main reason for purchasing the camera was for the smart tracking that is offered directly from the camera and not needing an NVR/DVR. Initially, I setup the smart tracking via smart events and was having a ton of issues where the camera would zoom in too far or not track the subject at all. After speaking with B&H Photo support they actually got me in touch with Hikvision support over the phone the same day and they deemed the camera had a bad chip inside that was not allowing the tracking software to work correctly. B&H Photo replaced the camera with a new one and just wow.. The tracking is spot on and perfectly tracks now. I can't be happier. What I'm even more impressed with though is the support that was provided by B&H and Hikvision even though I'm just a normal consumer and not a large customer. Thanks again!

Best NVR I've ever used, hands down... 32 IP cameras plus channels for audio, access control, alarm devices, and Point of Sale... runs firmware 5 too! NO BUILT-IN POE - all of my cameras are connected to POE switches directly and if you don't need it, save money and power with this model. I used Samsung EVO 870 SSD SATA 3 drives and this thing is so smooth! Yeah I know SSD won't last as long as purple disks but they will last a good few years and I'm OK with that. Firmware 5 offers SO much, big upgrade from v4. There is a learning curve but the analytics are so very worth it. Supports many different brands, protocols, and functions... I really can't list everything but I can say its awesome that my non-Hikvision cameras were automatically discovered alongside the real Hikvision ones. Still not sure? Neither was I because my older unit running version 4 was basically getting the job done but I wanted more channels and WOW I got a lot of bang for my buck with this upgrade!

Been using these recorders for years. Super easy to set up when using Hikvision Cameras. When using third party cameras, you have to do a few more steps, but they are pretty straight forward. Tech support is pretty good too.

Installed in a Hikvision NVR to double installed drive space, since I had added a total of 8 cameras to my system. Easy install and excellent drive.

I purchased the Hikvision DS-7604NI-Q1/4P 4-Channel 4K UHD PoE NVR with 4TB HDD. The reason is after researching YouTube help as to why my PTZ 8MP Hikvision compatible cameras(s) would work great with the Hik-Connect app on my LAN but when i left home, the celluar wouldnt connect, as it gave an error. I was using built in to the cameras the 512 micro HDD during this time as well. So for all reading this, you need to be on the HIK NVR as that box establishes a relationship with the servers from HIK and it allows you to see the cameras remotely. After i wasted days of try this, try that, open this port forwarding, blah blah blah.... I wish i had this review to read first, trust me. All cameras are working flawlessly on LAN and Remotely. B&H pricing and shipping and customer support is TOPS!!! Thank you again Happy Client.

Very clean night low light image compared to $200-300 range Hikvision cameras. The PTZ is fast while it does have to hunt a bit during zoom (~2 seconds). It also has ability to rotate 360 degrees without stopping. I have no IR lens flare at night as long the camera is not pointing at the wall to reflect the IR. It does however have lens reflections with high intensity sources like headlights. I use all the internal camera settings from my PC using Chrome browser plugin to access the camera web GUI. A negative is that the plugin asks to start each time you boot your PC, so I uninstall the plugin after camera is setup and let the camera send content to my NAS surveillance. Even though Hikvision is on the USA ban list...I do not see why anyone on the other side of the planet would want to monitor my driveway for the trash truck. My firewall registers no unusual packets after you sent proper network setting confiugration. I setup Smart events on the camera (line crossing, area, missing object, etc), as well as calendar of when to alert in order to enable the auto-tracking feature. It is working very well for me. The Auto-track feature also has a time window (Ex. 30 seconds) to track the object or give up if it has lost the target before it returns to default position. Lastly, I can adjust the speed for PTZ as part of the auto tracking. Very cool and smooths up the movement. I like the camera and features for the price. My closest comparison is Axis and Bosch high end cameras which cost nearly 2x more. Lastly, I suggest the junction box add-on as it has a 10 cluster of cables that come out of the back. perfect fit for my HikVision cameras. Should do a good job of keeping water and dust out of the connection and it provides a sturdy mount. I wish the gasket on the outer edge was glued in though, the installation would be much smoother if it were.

Well made item as is the majority of the items Hikvision carrys or manufacturers. You are looking for a back plate mount for their cameras. Stick with their line of products.
