History Of Sony Professional Cameras

I have a long history with Sony cameras from mini-DV to the FS100, A7s, and FS5 mk II but this camera the best. I sold my FS5 because it had too many limiting quirks which are all ironed out. You want to quickly shoot slo-mo? Done. You want to white balance in Slog? Easy. You want to monitor on a larger screen while? No problem. It has all of the sexy features that you already know about the ease of using it on a shoot, every day out in the field is where this camera really succeeds. I grew annoyed with my FS5 the more I used because of those quirks and shortcomings. The FX6, on the other hand, continues to be a joy. 5 |

I have a history with Panasonic! I owned the Dvc7 (mini tape) camcorder in 2007, Panasonic Gh2 for 2 years, Panasonic Gh4 for3 years.. I have always desired the low light capability of the full frame 5D mk2.. and the current Sony A7sII... looking to upgrade, it was between the Gh5 and Sony A7sII... I was ready to jump ship from my beloved Panasonic for that full frame and low light... Then it happened. GH5s came and I wasted no time to buy it. No lie or exaggeration, Micro 4/3rds finally competes with the A7sII and Mini ursa 4.6k in low light!!! 5 |

As a professional cameraman, I have been using these Sony Digital Master HDV tapes for about 10 years for commercials and web videos. I have about 600 in my tape vault, all shot on my Sony Z1U and FX1 cameras. The tapes are extremely dependable. Amazingly, in all these years I've only seen a few momentary drop-outs, and I have never lost a scene to tape damage. These days I use my HDV cameras for second or third cameras on many shoots, or when I need a special look such as low shutter speed. I am very glad that Sony continues to make this tape, and that B&H continues to sell them. 5 |

While digital technologies continue to be perfected with professional camera use and their widespread applications, the latest Sony RX1RII fixed Zeiss lens camera (other cameras allow long-lens variants) exceeds expectations, especially when printing work on a large scale (with the Epson Stylus Pro 9900). While some relatively minor imperfections exist as with all cameras that professionals adjust to, the expansive quality of color, remarkable low-light resolution, extraordinary image quality and virtual unlimited visual potentials provide challenges that move into unchartered territory for artists (see attached site-specific photographic installation of 112x152cm prints). The most problematic issue is not Sony's: Adobe Photoshop has abandoned the long supporting professional community by not making a plug-in for this camera's RAW files (ARW in Sony terms). Two alternatives: 1) join the CC monthly feed of Adobe Photoshop (APS), abandoning the experienced professional use of all former Photoshop versions, or 2) for 99$ purchase the most basic APS Elements software that notes the Sony RX1RII RAW files are supported, at least noted in Elements literature. What a way to treat loyal professionals and Sony over the years, claiming that CC is better without meaningful details justifying the obvious money first, customer second policy for purchasing the CC version. Not mentioning inevitable future rises in CC prices, non-copyright protections in-Cloud, and not allowing printing in your studio with your own APS, even when CC RAW is tiff converted. Sony's RX1RII with Zeiss lens and its internal digital processor chip is remarkable for what the eye can see (numerous professional digital cameras now exceed what can be seen without mention), even with the rare if not unprecedented 600$ additional cost recently by Sony. 5 |

I do professional videography but I started out years ago shooting on a Pentax K1000 film camera. I bought the a6000 primarily for shooting video with a large sensor camera. This camera is fantastic. At around $500 there is nothing that comes close in features and it has a aps C sensor which is found in 90% of all dslr and mirrorless cameras. I’ve seen canon 1” sensor point ant shoot cameras for hundreds more. I shoot low light wedding videos on this camera and the video looks fantastic. It also shoots video in Sony’s xavc 50 mbps format which is found on Sony cameras and pro camcorders costing thousands more. This small camera is a beast! 5 |

I've had a good history with Lexar and these were a good deal so decided to try them. I shoot football both JPG and RAW simultaneously and tried these recording raw so it had a good workout. One of the cards got a bit warm which I noticed doing a card swap (never had that with Sony). Records about the same speed as Sony (could be a tad faster but nothing noticeable). Seems a bit more sturdy than Sony as these are metal and Sony plastic though it's so thin it might not be. In short, it seems comparable to Sony so I would go with the best deal. 5 |

I wasn't going to spend more on a sound bar than the TV. Sony has well-deserved history of very good sound machines. The sound quality, size, and ease of install make this a bargain. 5 |
