The 'Amp' replaced a Home Theater receiver I still employed with some nice horn driven speakers I couldn't part with. The receiver was the last bulky and 'in your face' component in the living room. I expected Sonos quality in this Amp, but wasn't ready for the improvement in sound stage in comparison to the receiver.
