Home Theatre Stereo Receiver Amp

I have a Sonos home theater system (Beam, Mini Sub, Sonos 1s') in my living room, and I had an unrelated stereo music setup in another room. I recently bought a turntable which I hooked up to my passive speakers and my older stereo receiver. So I bought the Sonos amp to replace the receiver. Beyond the expected Sonos connection I found an unexpected dramatic improvement in sound quality from my turntable/speakers. Now my stereo sounds great with my vinyl collection and can be played n my living room and anther room where I have additional Sonos speakers. Fantastic! The amp has also given me other benefits -- a TV connected to it via HDMI, IOS control, etc. Well worth the cost.... 5 |

I have had the receiver for a while and it works well with my home theatre system. I like that it comes on and shuts off with the TV. I would prefer jack plug ins for all the speakers instead of the bare wire hookup. 5 |

I just bought a power amp for my stereo that I've waited over a year to save up for. I have a ten year old receiver and wanted a good cable to connect them. I never knew there was a shielded cable that was exactly the right length with a RCA male on one end for the receiver and a 3-pin XLR male on the other for the amp. For under $ I was able to connect my 3 channel power amp to the receiver with no interference from all of the other A/V equipment I use. I was an electronics technician in the Navy and know that this was the best option for my system possible. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. 5 |

I am a physicist. (energy physics not matter physics). I am also a sound engineer, coincidentally, the control of sound energy. This amp is VERY GOOD for bench testing audio control devices and speakers. The addition of an unbalanced input makes it very handy for typical bench tests. Because I am retired I also use commercial speakers for my home stereo system. Use of commercial speakers is much cheaper than consumer speaker products that, by and large, do Not provide full range audio despite deceitful specs claiming otherwise. The commercial speaker is also built to last and far more reliable than consumer designs. (will last decades under home stereo use... my last amp lasted 31 years... speakers are still going strong) I use this amp as my home stereo amp driving 1,200 watt rated commercial speakers that actually reproduce 20Hz. (actual amp power use rarely exceeds 75 watts peak and 25 watts average) In that unique use... the amp fan noise is detectable so I place it behind a glass paneled cabinet. Aside from fan noise, the amp performs very well and for the price is one of the best bargains there is. Keep in mind... the typical consumer stereo amp is Designed To Fail and the primary reason is.... no active fan cooling. (a flawed design that minimizes ambient noise) The amp provides plenty of dynamic headroom (nearly 6dB under typical home stereo use) and presents no excessive noise floor problems. I use a receiver with balanced XLR outputs, a balanced 31 band EQ to drive the amp and control volume. My speaker connections are Speakon. Bottom line... A very good simple amp for multiple purposes at a very good price. If you are an engineer who loves music and movies you will quickly recognize the wisdom of putting up with a bit of fan noise to achieve excellent performance and very long term reliability. 5 |

The Pyle PTA2 Mini 2X40W Stereo Power Amp is the perfect amp for the stereo minimalist. This amp, a good turntable and nice speakers will provide the perfect retro vinyl album experience. Try it and enjoy, it's 1969 again! 5 |

The 'Amp' replaced a Home Theater receiver I still employed with some nice horn driven speakers I couldn't part with. The receiver was the last bulky and 'in your face' component in the living room. I expected Sonos quality in this Amp, but wasn't ready for the improvement in sound stage in comparison to the receiver. Things sounded so great, I had to break out all my favourites so as to listen to them again for the first time! 5 |

The AV Direct allowed me to use the center channel output from my Home Theater Receiver (speaker level) as the input to a Pro Monitor that I found used. My main speakers are Infinity Modulus with a ribbon-style (EMIT) tweeter. The only match I've found at reasonable cost is the Adam Pro series with their X-ART tweeters, but my Pioneer receiver doesn't offer pre-amp outputs. The AV Direct came to the rescue, allowing the amp inside the Adam Pro monitor to do its work. I matched levels by ear without difficulty. This solution is simple and certainly less costly than buying a 1k or so Home Theater Receiver with preamp outputs. 5 |

I have a home theater where 3 of the seats have Buttkicker tactile transducers, for those earth quaking explosions etc. Tactile transducers require a lot of wattage from your amp, so a pro amp suited me best (lots of power, drive low ohms, cheaper per watt). However, since my home theater receiver only had the typical -10 dB output on the sub-woofer channel, I needed something to bring it up to the +4 dB required by the professional amp. This box is an affordable way to integrate professional audio equipment into your home theater. No fuss, just works. Just be careful when you now do the channel balancing, since you'll have three places to adjust the audio level, 1) the receiver, 2) the MB15b Promatch, and 3) the amplifiers input gain. 5 |
