Hp60 Studio Headphones

I purchased this headphone amplifier for my recording studio use. I used Personus HP60 and Behringer HA8000. Both supplied insufficient power to the headphones when musicians play their instruments. This ART amplifier drives Beyerdynamic DT-880-pro-250 well. Knob layouts are well thought and the amplifier can be tweaked without requiring too much attentions. The circuit diagram, which is printed on the top of the unit, gives a great help. 5 |

I use with a Profire/Logic recording array in a 6U rack for practices and mobile recording (amateur/hobbyist level). Sound quality and function are excellent, noise free, LOUD, and the additional input routing is excellent for click, or scratch vs mix layers. It also saves wear on my interfaces' headphone outs. Depending if you rack yours, or how it's stacked, the labels can be tough to read, but after a few takes you know what's what. Mono buttons sum when going from a balanced out to the unbalanced in's of the HP60, helpful so you don't have to mess with Y cables and additional routing to get signal in both ears. The talkback mic option is awesome, and you can hook a foot pedal to this function. The first time you hit someone with Hey, Good Take! piped straight into their brain is confidence inspiring. Better than a thumbs up and a dumb smile from the other room. TB is also good for heckling and wisecracking on the other musicians. Only criticism: The Mono and Mute buttons on the front, when engaged, have LED's behind them that can wake up the dead. With all six channels lit up, it's like Kramer's apartment; maddeningly bright. I've had the need/want for additional channels lately- folks hanging around want to hear too!, so I'll most likely be getting another HP60 to chain together, using the signal pass through capabilities. 5 |
