Imax Introduced Laser Projectors

I did my homework before settling on this projector. I was looking at 3 price points. Low ($1200), Mid ($3000), High ($6000). For the High I wanted the Sony entry laser projectors (but I think this one is even better than the entry laser projector from what I read in professional reviews). This project was at the high end of the Mids but after reading many reviews from AV professionals, when they say that this is their favorite projector and another said that the picture is almost as good as the Sony $40K laser projectors I had to try it out. And it does not disappoint. Everything that you think and expect in a great image, it has. I run at a medium bulb power and it looks awesome (in a dark room). Just read the pro reviews and you will settle on this one for the price point. I was not a fan of pixel shifting or DLP but this projector won me over.

This is the best bang for the buck laser projector on the market. After using lamp projectors in my home theater room I’m very impressed with the cinema experience of this laser projector. Great blacks and plenty of settings to customize it to your room. I was tired of lamp degradation and tired of lamp replacement. No more slowly dimming movies. I can set the brightness to my favorite setting and enjoy it for years.

I've been using projectors for years now and it's incredible how far the technology has come. I found this very neat laser projector and it works great. I can project a 150 inch screen from almost up against the wall and the image quality is great. I'm not going to lie, the picture is slightly dim on very bright days (I have a very sunny living room), but not enough to bother me. I use my FireStick to watch my shows and it's super easy.

bought two of these cases to fill with Optoma Projectors. The projectors fit great after removing the pull-out foam. Anyone with professional gear that needs to travel must have some of these cases.

I use the EF version of this lens with an EOS 6D. I've used it for both 180-degree IMAX style night time lapses and stitched 360 degree VR photography. Works great, very little chromatic aberration at the edges compared to other 8MM fisheye lenses that I've worked with. While it's an autofocus capable lens, I would highly recommend setting the camera to single-point metering if you use that feature. In short, very nice glass!

I purchased the SB-3000 as a replacement for my SB-1000. Having similarly tiny footprints, I expected some noticeable difference, but nothing dramatic. I couldn't have been more wrong! I use it in a small dedicated home theater room measuring 3.1m(L) x3.4m(W)x2.7m(H). My system is calibrated to 79dBC which I have found resembles the perceived loudness the large commercial cinemas the most. Calibrating to 85dBC in my room would sound far louder than even IMAX. So theoretically, in a 7.1 set-up, I would be asking my subwoofer to output a peak of around 111 (99*7+109)dBC at the listening position. Other subwoofers at this price range might struggle with such demands, but not the SB-3000. In fact, even after calibrating the system flat to +/-3dB, I still found the system sounding bottom-heavy during bass heavy scenes, more so than I remembered hearing in IMAX theaters. And then I found out that in Dolby Atmos' specifications for commercial cinemas (IMAX doesn't release its technical specifications, unfortunately), the subwoofers are only expected to go down to 31.5Hz +/-3dB. Therefore, to make sure that movies sound as they were intended (in large cinemas), I have to apply a 32hz high-pass filter to my subwoofer. Imagine that! The subwoofer is so powerful that even after equalization, I still need a high-pass filter to reduce the low frequencies unintended by filmmakers! Now, I understand that some people like their ultra-low frequencies, and there's nothing wrong with that. But if you have a small room like mine, like to watch movies at IMAX levels, and is content with the amount of low-frequency output found in IMAX, then look no further!
