This is a simple, affordable upgrade the the shoe stands that come stock with various flashes for one important reason: brass grommet for attaching to a tripod or light stand. Metal versus plastic grommet allows me to actually tighten and secure the stand without fear of stripping the threads. Secondly the footprint is a bit larger for some more stability off of a stand. Third, it has 3 shoe mounts for multiple flashes or challenging angles.
