Improvised String Instruments

I use this mic to record string and wind (brass mostly) instruments.  The different patterns make it effective in a variety of spaces depending on whether you want to reject other sounds or include reflections.  Versatile and great sound quality.

This mic sounds very nice for vocals, plucked string instruments, and woodwind instruments (at least that's what I've tried it on). I highly recommend it!

I like the softness of the string and when inside my ears. Great Sound!

Works well. Not too heavy. Although it would be nice if there was some for of a shoulder strap (I improvised using an old computer bag strap). No damage when received as mentioned in other reviews. One improvement would be to make the mouse stand a little bigger in the forward to back direction- but not a show stopper.

This purchase was for assembly of improvised lens support rig for Sony 70-300. Could not find off-brand mfr, so I looked for something else. Used various parts from various manufactures to make a smallest, lightest, cheapest 15mm rail system I could find. Result was under 1lb, under $100 rig. I do not do video, so it may look like an overkill. But it does not weigh much, takes no space in a bag. As for Fotodiox part, it is small, lightweight, well built, does the job well. I had to stack up two clamps on the camera plate because even at lowest position, the cradle was too high for this rig. No fault of Fotodiox.

I use this cable to take my MKE400 off the camera: on the improvised boompole or to use it as a hand held interview mic. Don't have any problems with the cable. An XLR cable is supposed to work better in such situations, but for this short lenght this cable seems to work just fine.

I wish I had known about this a couple of months ago when I shot an event on location at the Humane Society. I improvised, but this would have been a snap to use, and I'm looking forward to many more opportunities to have backdrop, will travel! I am not going to say that it is flimsy - but it is lightweight, and as others have commented, probably not going to hold up outdoors in a wind.
