This is a work horse mic used by every sound engineer to record any type of instruments:brass, percussion, etc.

I use this mic to record string and wind (brass mostly) instruments.  The different patterns make it effective in a variety of spaces depending on whether you want to reject other sounds or include reflections.  Versatile and great sound quality.

I really like the Sensei Pro line. Not inexpensive, but brass really is superior to aluminum.

Protection from damaging lens and from dust. Solid brass frame. Inexpensive.

I have several set-up rings and I am replacing the inexpensive Aluminum ones with Brass. The Aluminum versions deform more easily and can be very difficult to remove from the lens or separate from the filter. This Sensei Brass ring performs just like you want. No struggles, just works.
