Inexpensive Color Printing Cheap Inkjet Vs Laser

One of four toners in my color laser all-in-one. This one lasts the longest because most of my color printing uses very little yellow.

Im very happy with this printer.  I typically prefer the crisper printing, particularly with images, of an inkjet.  But the cost of inkjet cartridges on my Epson was too high, so I thought I would try a color laser again.  I have not been particularly happy with the color laser printers I have had in the past.  However, this one is a very solid build, pulls the paper straight, prints text extremely well and graphics good enough for me.  Paper curling is not bad at all and it takes additional paper trays.

This is my first impression and first ownership of a color laser printer which I purchased on the recommendation of the Office Depot Sales Representative. Easy to use, a bit bigger and louder than an inkjet but lower long term cost investment for toner supplies, so over time, less cost and better product and delivery than inkjet printer. Also, it takes a little time to recover if it gets hot from a massive job.

We spent years trying to find a quality inkjet printer and finally made the jump to a color laser printer. This printer has been easy to use, connected to all my computers and phones with no effort and has been overall fantastic.

Other than for photos, I switched from inkjet to color laser for business work. Non-photo graphics are great. And you don't have to deal with head clogs which are the coronavirus of inkjet printers. Are supplies more expensive over inkjet? Maybe. But for the past year I have not gotten the summons THE HEADS ARE PLUGGED UP ON THE PRINTER AGAIN. If there is some difference in the overall cost, the peace of mind of not dealing with a problem normal head cleanings do not resolve is well worth it.

Having used inkjet and color laser printer and paper combinations for years, I opted to spend less on a large format printer (epson 1400) and more on the paper. To my surprise, the combination was successful. The coverage is even with no fingerprints in sight. With using the correct color profile and color management, the reproduction of color and tones are almost dead on.

My old color laser printer died on me on duplex job I was trying to do. My research landed me to this one. Setting this unit up was easy on my home network. Printing from local system was breeze, I installed the app on my phone now I can check the printer status as well as printing directly from phone. I even tried the duplex printing and envelope. Printing a picture on normal paper came out so good that someone thought to use it a normal photo picture. I think I am beginning to like that printer a lot.

There are cheap ones that work well and there are more expensive ones that are poorly aligned. This one is inexpensive, is well aligned with it's own axis and has a fairly bright laser. The laser spot is not sharp or well defined but that is not so much of an issue as far as functionality. Works well with handguns and rifles.

I don't know how they get the complete color gamut in one container, but it works, and the color is certainly adequate for casual inkjet printing. How long it will last in my new Pixma will be the next question, but a certain consumer magazine says it is one of the most economical printers around so I don't mind the purchase price.

This is the best paper for inkjet printing on the market! Great color, feel and surface. Anything will look good on this paper!
