Instrumentation Recorder Range

I am a drummer and bought two of these mics for my overhead mic setup. They pick up the instrumentation very well...better than I thought. No tom mics, just snare, bass drum mics and overheads for the recording I was doing and the final product came out very well.

No big deal, but the instrumentation of this item can be intimidating. Once set up with a bit of patience it works well. As my kids realized the planet does not stay still.

The sound you can record with this recorder at this price range is amazing, not only you can use it as a recorder but also as a microphone that you can use directly to your windows/mac pc with a cable. Microphone is very sensitive so I suggest you get a windscreen

I use this recorder for school and church and set the record level to Auto. Played back through the tiny on-board speaker, recordings are thin and tinny. However, they ARE full range recordings and when played back through a PC, the full range clarity is revealed. I convert the WAV files to MP3 files, then run them through MP3Gain to normalize the audio.

Best field recorder in this price range, and punches well above its weight in regards to sound quality, flexibility and build quality. Used this as my main recorder for a few features and tons of small jobs in between. Its very easy to use, the preamps are very quiet and have tons of headroom, even before you push 32bit files. Time code is rock solid and I've jammed this to an Ambient Nanolockit for 12 hours a day with no drift. OS is very easy to navigate and the Wingman App is great. 6 inputs is very flexible for small productions and the only real thing it's "missing" would be another stereo output, but again for the size and price it evens out. The battery life is a non-issue because there is no recorder with this much power that can reliably run off AAs; they're a backup. The upside is it runs off inexpensive USB battery banks so you can run this for 15 hours or so with a $50 battery. It's not a replacement for an 8 series, but it would make a great backup to that unit, and it's the clear winner compared to anything from Zoom/Tascam in the price range.

This is the solution I was looking for to synchronize my zoom F8 recorder with my Atomos Ninja V recorders the range is at least 250 m or better.

This recorder is absolutely amazing. Fairly easy to use and the quality and range of the sound is unsurpassed! The only suggestion is put in a back light and then this would be the only recorder you will need!!
