Instruments Similar To Recorder

I normally use my MixPre 6 II as my primary recorder for violin, cello, and other musical instruments. However, setting up the MixPre is always a hassle, and I don't like how it has to be powered. When something requires too much time and effort, there's a tendency to hesitate in using it. Since getting this recorder, I can start my recordings within a matter of seconds (literally). I can easily bring it anywhere, and it has become my preferred device for sound recording. The sound quality with the built-in mic is excellent, comparable to the MixPre II (of course depending on the mic you use). It is better than the Zoom H6 I used to own, especially for recording musical instruments. I also have the DJI MIC 2, which is excellent for voice and highly portable. However, when it comes to recording musical instruments, it falls short compared to the PCM-A10.

A fantastic value for the money. From beginner to expert musician can have so much fun and enjoyment with this recorder type instrument. Also great that it uses the recorder base for the fingering and is very intuitive. Being able to change keys, makes it fantastic for playing with transposing instruments. The 10 different voices : two being oriental instruments the other eight being western add to its flexibility. For instance, the Trumpet voice can be shifted lower so that it sounds and can play the range of the trombone. ,

I replaced a similar Sony recorder with this one and I am very happy with the sound quality and ease of use. I can set it to record automatically, or can set the recording levels manually. Both work very well. I've been using it on a daily basis capturing hour long voice recordings in a living room, with alternating video sound. Both are very clear. I switched from WAV to MP3 192 kps to save on space on the mircro SD card, and the recording fidelity is very, very good.
