I bought this product because (obviously) I needed more storage space than what my laptop's internal hard drive could handle (I have large amounts of Video on my hard drive...). This thing is really great in that it does what it's supposed to do, it holds all the files in a convenient, easy to access storage unit. It's also fairly quiet and doesn't show any signs of being flimsy or easily broken, although that isn't to say that one should toss it around, but I think that it could withstand a decent amount of abuse if it was disconnected. Bottom line, Western Digital did a superb job giving us a quality external hard drive with a reasonable price. Good stuff. 5 |

2T WD Black internal hdd works great. Use it in my external hard drive shell with a esata connection to my D*** Set top Box for much more space for DVR recordings than D***** provides. 5 |

I replaced using a 1TB with this 8TB external hard drive for backing up my computer's internal hard drive monthly. The cost of 1TB was 2/3 of the cost of 8TB and now I don't drop off older backups. Easy enough to reformat for an iMac which you will need to do before your first backup. B&H computer reps will guide you through the first time; they are always willing to assist. I wrote the steps down and have done it solo 2X since. 5 |
