I purchased this product to move the Windows virtual machine that I run on my MacBook Pro under VMWare Fusion off my internal storage because I was running out of space on the laptop's solid state drive. While I haven't run benchmarks, it appears it to start up and run the Windows apps as fast (or maybe only very slightly slower) than from the Macbook's internal solid state drive. If you are installing an internal Solid State Drive to your desktop computer, you'll need this SATA wire unless you are able to scavenge one off another attached device that you no longer use. It attaches to the back of the SSD (or other SATA device) and to the mother board. 5 |

Great price for an external drive, but can also be used as an internal drive, just remove it from the external enclosure. By the way, this external enclosure is very well padded and protect the drive with high quality rubber padding. Great! Just on thing, the disk is housed in a compact plastic enclosure, not metal. 5 |
