It's a modem. You plug it into the wall and then into a router and you get internet.

I enjoy using this product because the internet rarely goes out with Modem/Router.

I have tried to create an internet bridge between to buildings, 300 feet apart... I tried a Yagi antenna and was OK (got signal but very poor and slow = unreliable). The CPE210 is the device that actually worked without having to spend hundreds of $. It was easy to set, and I'm getting good internet speeds.

I needed this to add 5GHz capability to an old laptop that I was using as a router. The big antenna on this adapter makes it 2-3 times faster and much more stable than my old means of connecting. For Linux, you need to get the driver package from the website, don't bother with the included disk. I used the latest version, I simply ran the install script in a terminal window, and it was up and running, that easy. The adapter unplugs from the base and can be plugged directly into a usb port if necessary, the antenna is hinged. The base is weighted and lets you move the adapter around for the best reception. Really can't come up with any negatives. It is hard to find a 5GHz USB Wifi adapter for Linux, and this one works very well. I'm sure the Windows and Mac support is as good.

The Synology RT2600AC router is a sound choice for anyone looking to replace their current router (necessity of from frustration). Synology's SRM interface (Synology Router Manager) is ahead of the pack as far as features and ease of use, and if you have a Synology NAS box like I do you will be right at home while configuring it as they are similar. So far performance is far better than my Netgear Nighthawk X4 (the R7500). Very solid performance with 3 PC's gaming, an Apple TV streaming video, two phones streaming music, and an iPad web browsing. A few words about the SRM- It has features other routers COULD put in but don't, like the ability to have the status lights turn on and off on a schedule (important because right now it's in our bedroom), better security, and stability. I was able to upgrade the SRM twice without loosing Internet connectivity or rebooting it. There are also plug-ins to the SRM you can get through the Package Center, like Intrusion Detection (which requires a USB drive to load). Cons- NONE. Only problem I had was with an antenna would not screw onto the screw mounts. The threads were not properly formed inside the connector on the antenna. I called Synology tech support, and submitted a ticket with all the info. A day later they shipped me a new antenna that I received in a few days. It worked fine. In the interim I used an antenna from a Netgear (they are all the same size threads). Not what I wanted to do, but I would have rather done that than wait those few days to install my new router. Very happy with customer service! Other thoughts... wish it was available when I bought the Netgear. I would have spent the extra money, because it's worth it. Routers that cost $300+? Go read reviews at smallnetbuilder.com. Many of the features are only available if you buy a new network card (for desktops), and no current laptops/tablets/phones can take advantage of the features yet either. Not for a while anyway (a year or two at least).
