The HAUC Active Stereo Headphone Control Box by Whirlwind fits the bill perfectly for studio headphone control. Easily mounted under the desk, it is a solid piece of gear. In my studio, I have several headphone locations branching off a multi-headphone amp. Using the HAUC, i am able to give each user a choice of 3.5 mm and 1/4 jacks, and full volume control. Installation was a breeze with four screws. At my news-talk table, I have daisy-chained three thanks to the dual jacks in the back, and each still has its own volume control. I'm no audiophile, and considering that I just listen to music from the computer and iPhone, there's a limit to what these devices can drive in terms of headphones... I think these cover most bases very very well at this price point. There is enough clarity in the highs, the mid tones are clean and the base ins't too boomy. I would consider them to be on the more neutral side compared to what's trendy in consumer oriented headphones, and certainly more clear and crisp in the mids and highs. Excellent value. They don't creak, they are comfortable, not too heavy and they sound great for most music. 5 |
