The iRig Pre is what you should use to connect a pro Sennheiser microphone into your cell phone for a radio interview. Never use the built in microphone in a cell phone. If your cell phone only has the Lightning input, B & H sells an Apple Lightning To Headphone Adapter. ACN Radio Network 5 |

I don't know much about this stuff but I record video on my iphone using the Rode Wireless Go and Rode Lavalier Go and my microphone would blow out sometimes when I talked louder. The rep at BH said this could fix that and give me slightly better sound quality. It seems to be doing exactly that as my mic isn't blowing out as hard as before. 5 |

Is a great directional Microphone especially in nosier environments. The lightning jack is not very long and most iphone case users will find that they will either need to remove their cases or modify them. 5 |

If you have an Apple Lightning to USB 3.0 Type-A Camera Adapter you can connect this device into the USB Type-A slot, then connect a 3.5mm audio cable from a microphone (such as the Sennheiser EW G4 wireless lavalier system) to pipe the external microphone's audio directly into your iPhone. Excellent for the convenience of having good quality audio for your iPhone interviews or vlogging. I was skeptical that this setup would work, but it certainly does work. I'd recommend this device if you're trying to do something like what I described. Should work well with laptops too, but I haven't tried that. 5 |

In order to use my old iPhone 5c with the Rode Micro microphone, this cable was necessary. I adapted it to my iPhone 7 lightning port as a test and it didn't work. I didn't investigate because the plan was to use the mic with the old phone anyway, so it might have worked and could have been my set up. 5 |

After an extensive search for something to connect my apollo/laptop audio to my iPhone for livestreaming, this is the first product I found that wasn't backordered and works! Sounds really good, super simple. It comes with an iRig to lightning cable and an iRig to USB cable. All I had to do was plug the lightning cable into my phone and an instrument cable running from the iRig to the headphone jack of the Apollo OR a stereo to mono cable from the monitor output on the back of the Apollo and bam! Audio to my videos! 5 |

The iRig Pre Microphone serves a rather specific purpose to connect XLR microphones into smartphone devices (with a TRRS connection). Using the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, this worked wonderfully, allowing me to use a hand-held (non-phantom) and head-mounted (phantom) microphone with the device. The controls are easy to understand (off, on, phantom) and there's volume knob to adjust the gain. When you hit the right levels, the sound comes through great and is a great way to get more professional sounding microphones into DIY/last minute recording setups. There is also a hack (which voids any warranties) to route sound exclusively through the headphone jack, enabling it's use with devices such as DSLRs, making it a very inexpensive way to get microphones connected to higher-end equipment if you only need one input. Highly recommended. 5 |
