Let's face it, warranties are insurance and like most folks, I don't care much for insurance. However, as many people know, portable devices and laptops are prone to failure due to the nature of the use and abuse they take. For that reason, purchasing an extended warranty can be a good idea. It's a little bit disappointing that Apple only offers 90 days of phone support but their 1-year of hardware support is pretty standard. That said, the 3-year coverage offered by the AppleCare Protection Plan provides peace of mind and excellent support for an appropriate amount of time. I have already contacted Apple regarding a minor issue with my new MBP and am pleased to say that their tech support has so far been a joy to work with. Both technicians I spoke with were professional and courteous and spoke excellent English. I have yet to take my laptop to an Apple store but like the idea that I can do so instead of mailing it across the country or taking it to a big box store. Overall, Apple provides good peace of mind and protection at a fair price with the 3-year AppleCare Protection Plan. 5 |

Since I was buying a used laptop, it seemed like a good idea to have AppleCare. Well, it's a good idea even with a new laptop. Past experience has proven AppleCare to be a lifesaver. Be sure you know the original purchase date of computer! 5 |
