Is Fast Startup Bad

Fast and stable drive. Can use it for backup or even as a startup drive. LaCie got a bad rap years ago, but their new drives are solid. Comes with a cable for USB-C and USB 3.0

Keyboard feels good. Screen bright. Fast startup.

Installed windows 10 on this drive and it boots fast (without fast startup enabled).

Blazing fast and easy setup and has made Windows's feel and startup like a Mac !

This is a follow up on my original review from 12/3/2022 (I do not see a way to update an existing review). All my findings in the first review are still valid and the laptop has proven itself a reliable workhorse. However I discovered one intermittent issue with the battery life. In most cases the 80% charged battery wold last at least 4-6 hours when watching videos or browsing web on the lowest brightness. Occasionally however it would drop to 2 hours or less (the back of the laptop would also become noticeably warm). I turned on battery saver, made sure to disable any programs and services, except the video player or the browser tab I was using, and the CPU utilization was around 1%. Yet the battery life was unusually short and I could find any reason for that. A reboot (sometimes more than once) would help in most cases but this did not seem right. After some research I found that Windows Fast Startup, enabled by default, may be causing this (no hard evidence though). Anyway, after disabling Fast Startup my battery life on the lowest settings improved to consistent 7-8 hours (again with the initial charge of 80%). If you are unhappy with your battery life search for How to Turn On or Off Fast Startup in the Control Panel. It is simple and I did not notice any adverse effects.

Replace your optical drive with an fast SSD to give your old Mac new life. Make the SSD your startup drive and max out your RAM toget greater speed and performance.

Much better than my old Epson Perfection 4870. �Fast startup. �SilverFast software is excellent, although I also use the Epson software for simple things. �Negative carriers are not really a problem. �They also maintain negative flatness better than my 4870 carriers. �I like being able to load a carrier while the other is scanning. �I'm glad I made the move to this new scanner.

have had several HP laptops, but this one is superior to any HP fast startup, lots of storage and speed. will be a surface customer from now on.

Fast Startup is key to shooting Documentaries. You never know when you're capturing the moment that makes the film what it is. It's around 4 seconds from pressing on until you're able to record audio. Great design with the protecting bars.
