The important thing about Kinetronics's cleaning solutions is that they contain isopropyl alcohol (isopropanol) and alcohols have been used successfully for decades to clean various kinds of optics. Now the difference is that many manufacturers (Zeiss, for example) have started to use a different formulation based on butyldiglycol. I'm not particularly fond of that ingredient as I suspect it may leave a residue whereas both water (pure) and alcohol will evaporate without a trace regardless of how much you apply. So my advice is to look for alcohol-based cleaners. The problem is that you can't find what goes into most of those solutions, not even on their websites, until you receive it and read the label. All I was looking for was some 99% isopropyl alcohol and some pec pads and these are a perfect combination of those two things in a sealed, non-leaking packet. Perfect for chucking in the camera bag and the wipes are large enough to clean your camera body after cleaning a few smudges from your lens. I an imagine using these for a long time. 5 |
