Kensington Bluetooth Keyboard

Now that I have gotten used to this keyboard after years of using an old Kensington USB keyboard, I really love the Magic Keyboard. Connects immediately to my Mac Mini and the battery seems to hold a charge for a long time. Perfect size for a small desk. Like all Apple products, a little pricey but worth it. 5 |

I've been using the Kensington trackball for a couple of weeks. It worked out of the box on my Linux machine and it's been responsive and reliable. The ball doesn't seem to clog quickly, and the button on the bottom to push it out for cleaning is a great idea. It works on Bluetooth as well as with their wifi dongle, which caused me some trouble when I switched it to Bluetooth mode by mistake, but when I finally read the instructions I quickly changed it back. It has buttons all over the place. I don't know how to program them under Linux nor would I want to, but fortunately they seem to do nothing if unprogrammed, as it's hard to use the trackball without clicking them now and then. This hasn't interfered with my use of the trackball, though. It feels much like the old Logitech Marble Trackball with a handmade tilted stand that I've used for years. 5 |

I used to own a Kensington wireless mouse because I liked how it looked. But it had lousy wireless connectivity and it constantly dropped its signal for no apparent reason. Seeking to replace it, I came across the Microsoft mouse at my neighborhood consumer electronics retailer. I found this same mouse at B&H for $20 less. I love this mouse. It's got a stylish appearance, the wireless signal is rock solid...no more dropped connections and it tracks great. I also like how I can easily power it off to save battery life. The only drawback is that it requires its own USB antenna so when you're using Microsoft's equally stylish wireless keyboard, you're using up 2 USB ports: one for the mouse antenna and one for the keyboard antenna 5 |

Read the fine print. This uses Bluetooth LE, and that requires an iPad3 or better. After wondering why it didn't work with either iPad2 here, I found that tidbit (which I had missed) in the fine print, hemmed, hawed, and opted to upgrade the iPad side of the system. It is a quality product, which on the one hand seems quite pricey for what is effectively a 2 button bluetooth keyboard, but on the other hand is much better made than whatever I might kludge up from a cheaper bluetooth keyboard with many more keys. The keys are lit, soft, and silent, and the device is considerably more affordable than some others in its niche - and with the keys on top, not over the edge, it works fine on carpets (some reviews indicate that is a weakness of some competing devices.) For hands-free page turning it really is ideal. Intended for foot operation, it is a bit larger than you'd expect from the pictures. 5 |

I'm happy with it. Small... about size of keyboard on my 13 Macbook. Bluetooth works fine and got rid of the extra wire on desk. I expect the portability to come in handy. 5 |
