Koss Porta Pro Wired Headphones

I got these as a cheaper replacement for both of my Koss Porta Pro's that ended up breaking after about three or four months (which I really hope doesn't happen to these). The low end on these definitely isn't as apparent compared to the Koss Porta Pro headphones, but it still has enough. They sound good, especially for $20. I looked at a few different places and it seemed that B&H had the best online price for these at the time of my purchase. Shipping was quick and item was packaged well. 5 |

The Koss Porta Pro has been around for years. With the contemporary look of today's offering, th Porta Pro has a real retro look. The sound quality is reasonable, and commensurate with the relatively inexpensive price. There are better sounding headphones, for higher prices, but for listening to music on a phone or iPod, these are adequate. 5 |

I have both Sennheiser & Koss headphones before but Sennheiser has always fit me the best. I needed a Pro headphone that would really, really filter out outside ambient noise because of the recording of the show that takes place in an animal shelter. The Sennheiser HD280 Pro sounds great and more importantly eliminates just about all outside ambient wonderfully. And the headphones sound great with my A/V receiver to boot!! 5 |

I purchased these ear pads for a pair of Koss Pro-dj200 headphones. They were a little hard to get on, but they fit fine. They are way more comfortable than the stock pads. The sound did not change at all. Good ear-pads Dekoni 5 |

I have been using Koss Porta Pros since the very first model came out. This models has the exact same driver with a coating as all the other models. I bought two pair of these, removed the ear clips and stuck them in the ear pads of my and my wife's ski helmets. No better dynamic open earphone for the money. Period. And I got alotta lotta lotta earphones, headphones and IEMs from the Beyer DT-48 all the way through to UE custom IEMs. I also have the KPH30i's which have almost identical drivers except for the coating AFAICT if you want an alternative with a headband. Very low distortion, high efficiency, clear highs, great imaging, long smooth bass. What's not to like? 5 |

I had a pair of these headphones over 20 years ago and they were years ahead of their time! Now with Bose, Dr Dre beats, and Skullcandy dominating the market, the Koss Porta Pro Jr are still holding their own over 20 years later. Just received my new pair of Porta Pro Jr's, and they are still just as good as 20 years ago! 5 |

For this low of a price, I have not found a better sounding headphone---it destroys some headphones at 3 to 4 times its price. I play music ( hobby) and my tastes are varied--will listen to anything--love jazz/fusion/ rock/classical/electronic/world/gospel/acoustic/new age / DCI drum corps. I am running a standard laptop and an old Audioquest Dragonfly v1.0 DAC--poor man's budget stuff, nothing fancy. With this combo, depth, soundstage, instrument timbres and tonal balance are amazing at this price. CONS: semi-fragile construction--take care of them ( ! ), presently a goofy look ( consumers may want to get out the Krylon !-- my opinion--sorry, Koss ! What happened to the-- more attractive IMHO-- all black KTXPRO design?). Very satisfying sound; I continue to be impressed every time I listen. Personally, I think this is a budget audiophile classic, and I have been a fan of it for decades through its various incarnations ( even back to the Optimus Pro 35 Radio Shack days !) A MUST buy on a budget---you will not be disappointed at this price. Despite the present look ( ! ), well done, Koss ! 5 |

The Koss PortaPro are outstanding for their price and are entertaining. Some headphones are technically more advanced and cost more, but are not entertaining. These are enjoyable; excellent sound and portable. They are not meant to compete with Sennheiser's HD650 which are also entertaining, cost over 10 times as much, and sound a little better in some ways -- but who cares? Enjoyable is enjoyable. When I'm listening to these while I'm out, I don't miss any other cans because I'm too busy enjoying the music. My only con is minor and not about the headphones. The con is about the porta-bag that comes with them; a little bigger would be much easier to get the folded headphones into the bag. The bag reminds me of those silly test questions in school: design a container of minimum material that will hold a certain shape and volume. With a little thought and a lot of practice, I've learned a way to do it: hold the hook & catch together when bagging. Your results may vary. But even with the bag being a tight fit, the sound and portability are worth it. I recommend these. 5 |

My Koss headphones finally bit the dust and started researching. Wanted something made in the USA and something with decent sound but not too expensive. Read about the Grado company and saw plenty of good reviews. I'm glad I did because these headphones cost more than I wanted to spend but they are worth every penny and more. Thanks Grado for giving me my money's worth and thanks to B&H Photo Video for fast shipping and easy shopping. 5 |
