Kvm Share Bluetooth Mouse

I had to upgrade to a KVM with DVI ports when I upgraded my monitor. I had been using a Dr. Bott VGA/USB switch that was very basic, but extremely reliable. This IOGear unit seemed like the best fit, and in fact, it has been a pleasure to use. It is easy to set up, and in some ways is even simpler and more idiot-proof than the Dr. Bott. Switching between the four attached Macs always works perfectly. In addition, they can all share my SoundWorks speakers now, thanks to the audio ports on the KVM. The cables seem to be of very good quality. In 14 months of use, I have encountered no significant problems. The only glitch I have encountered is that certain mice don't play well with it: the basic mouse functions will work, but more advanced settings in the mouse software don't work through the switch. This may be a problem with the mouse software; in any case, although it would be nice to share a single mouse, it isn't a big deal for me. I keep a basic Apple mouse attached to the KVM to use with the machines that aren't used often, and keep my Kensington and Contour Design mice attached to their respective computers.

I use this KVM to share my monitor with my computer and my Xbox 360. The USB ports in the front come in handy when I need to quickly connect a device. One short coming was that to connect my 360 I needed to add a VGA gender changer to the cable.(but that was my own short site)

PROS: This easy to install and use KVM Switch enables my two computers to share the same monitor/mouse/keyboard. I can change between the two computers by pressing the hot-key twice OR by simply pressing the button on the switch itself. It uses USB plugs, the choice all computers use today. CONS: The cute box is so small it must use 3 of its 4 sides to plug in all the cables making it take up too much space. If all cable inputs were on the same side, all wires could be strapped together enabling the unit to be more conveniently accessible.

In spite of its shortcomings, the Magic Mouse is still the best Bluetooth mouse for the Mac.

I use the KVM in a computer repair business, it allows me to have just one monitor and keyboard/mouse and work on multiple computer at once. It has good connections and the cable setup is great.

Reached my frustration level with my Linkskey KVM. Never remembered I had two monitors connected unless a precise power up sequence was followed and even then, it sometimes took two tries. Cables were supplied with this IOgear switch, but I just moved the ones over from the Linkskey and never looked back. Works flawlessly. Stores the technical data from your monitor, so it remembers how to display multiple monitors from multiple computers. If you have other than standard keyboard/mouse, you may have to go into setup to configure. The switch also lets you just switch the monitor/keyboard/mouse and leave the speakers and USB devices where they were useful if running a USB backup or listening to music and just want to KVM to another computer. This appears to be a rebranded ATEN product. More amazing was B&H price. Significantly lower than anyone else. Was a non-stock item, so it took longer to arrive, but did not matter to me.

I'm using this to connect a single monitor, USB mouse and USB keyboard to two PCs. It's very easy to use: Just plug the monitor, mouse and keyboard into the KVM, then plug the KVM's built-in cables into each PC. No software to install. Boot both PCs and hit the switch on the KVM to switch from one to the other. Very inexpensive, and it saves space.
