I already had the VLC media player ap installed on my windows 10 laptop, so when I plugged this into my USB port straight from the box, it was recognized and functioned immediately. If your computer doesn't have a driver, Transcend provides one free, but you must download one in order to use external drives--perhaps that's why some users claim their player wouldn't work? 5 |

I use several Apple Superdrives [since they are set to different regions for DVD's. Unfortunately, even with usbA to usbc adapter they all give the same error (not enough power, plug directly into computer). Most [powered] hubs indeed give enough power for the Apple DVD player, but somehow in the mac power management software, they deny these drives being plugged into the hubs. Thus valuable port real estate is devoted to one dvd player. Sonnet support has said that they are working on a software patch to cure this on this hub and presumably their larger hubs. 5 |

I watch a lot of movies (mostly just taken out from the library) and my 10 year old DVD player died so I ordered the Sony BDP-S1700 and love it. It's small and compact,very easy to use and the price was right. 5 |

Since I use a gaming laptop without a dvd player/recorder for video editing and recording, this external 4 port usb adapter makes it super for adding the dvd player. My laptop ports are already in use for other devices and gadgets. The expansion with added usb ports is very helpful. 5 |

Since my new MacBook Pro does not have a DVD player I needed to get this SuperDrive. It is so handy (of course, not as handy as having it built in to the laptop but still very nice. Quite pleased with ALL my Apple purchases! Happy Holidays to all! 5 |

This replaces an older one (over 10 years), the old one still works but doesn't recognize Windows 10 Media Player. The new improvements make the new one much better than the old. 5 |
