I use this to provide an HDMI output port from my HP laptop. It has worked flawlessly.

Got this for since my laptop did not have an HDMI port. The device is nice and small and works perfectly.

I would also like an HDMI port

The only think i had to say is that if you have support for USBC in your laptop, try to buy the one that includes the USBC port, because you have to buy an additional cable converter from USBC to DisplayPort ,because HDMI does not support 240hz refresh rate, in some laptops that does not supports HDMI 2.0.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an excellent adapter for when you need an HDMI from a mini port. This works great for my laptop to my TV or my laptop to any other manager. I think it would also work with my phone. It is full proof and very good quality.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you have a USB-C connector you're all set. I used this with my laptop and my desktop computers. It fits nicely under the back of the laptop and gives eleven rearward facing ports. I missed having an LED on the dock to indicate that it's powered up, but that's about the only thing missing. Having a passthrough USB-C port to full power charge my iPhone while working is great. I hooked up an external monitor using the HDMI port on the dock and it synced up immediately. With two USB-3 ports, a USB-2 port and the passthrough USB-C port, you're never without a handy USB port. With three video ports (HDMI, DisplayPort and VGA you can easily add multiple monitors. The icing on the cake is the handy SD and microSD card slots and a network connector. I used the network connector to hook the laptop up to wired ethernet CAT6 connection and it worked fine. This is a solidly built aluminum dock with rubber non-slip pads on both the top and bottom. It's quite elegantly and sturdily designed. Well, until there's another new-fangled port on the scene, this dock will take care of all my needs.

My new Lenovo laptop came with a mini-display port and not an HDMI output. This is an essential accessory for MDP--in my case it allowed me to hook the laptop to the HDMI input on my monitor. And yes, it carries both audio and video, which is not clear in the product description.

I had a laptop with one USB 3 Port and I needed to run two power hungry 1080P HDMI to USB 3 video encoders. Plugged in the aux power supply that came with it and teh hub worked perfect.

My office first gave me one to use at my desk, after a year I asked for another for my house. This thing is amazing. The oldest one is 3 years old if not 4. Only complaints is they aren't making a newer model. I have 4 24" 1080p screens + the laptop. 2 display port to hdmi and 2 usb 3.0 to hdmi active adapters. Its really nice to have cabling all setup and you just click and go. Also the configuration is saved so both my setups are remembered. My house uses 1 29" 1080p screen and 1 21" in portrait mode. The laptop must be an elite book so make sure it has the port on the right hand side and two holes on the bottom or else it isn't supported. Again, I would pay way more if they upgraded this format to allow thunderbolt and a external graphics card. But for business it is more than functional.
