Laptop Under 800 Higher 500

This is a great laptop for higher end use while still being very portable

Worth extra $ if you are attaching a 500-800$ video assist to a hot shoe.

I use my Nikon 800 lens almost exclusively. I have a 70 - 200 and a Nikon 200-500. All three are great but the Z9 with the 800 were game changers. Ok now to the Oben BE-126 Ball head window mount. It is really well made. My 800 fits on it very easily. I have always had a little trouble with a ball head but could work with it very nicely. If you are using a smaller lens, this is made for you. Oh yes, B&H are super great to work with. AJD

I bought the SB-500 mainly for use on my Z 6 mirrorless camera, which has no popup flash. Even though I already have two larger SB-800 Speedlites, I needed something to take the place of the popup that is normally on Nikon DSLRs.  Specifically, I needed a small illuminator for informal gatherings and travel, and for triggering the off-camera SB-800 flashes in a pro setup.  Normally, the popups on my D750 or 7500 did that job too. The SB-500 gets a pretty good run from just two AA batteries (I use NiMH).  As  bonus it includes a 3-level LED for video making.  The SB-500 works well with CLS, but unlike the larger SBs, makes use of menu controls in the camera to adjust functions and levels of flashes in the system. I like the way the head swivels in all directions.  The controls on this flash are straightforward.  They include a small stand/tripod mount and storage bag. There is an aftermarket diffuser dome for this flash.  I have not tried it, assuming the lower power of this flash would not be sufficient to work effectively with a diffuser,  But some type of reflector card would be handy to direct light forward with flash is bounced. I use a business card and rubber band but something built in would be nice.

I have been wanting to upgrade my old AF-s 500 for some time. It was a tossup between the 600 and 800. Most of what I read and what I saw on uTube didn't really answer the question. But the one thing that stuck in my mind was the raves about the sharpness of the 800mm. Another thing that was mentioned a lot was the speed with which it focused when paired with a D4s. As my title says, it lives up to both claims. I mostly shoot birds and I have never come home with so many keepers. For most shots, post processing consists of a little cropping and maybe some tonal adjustment depending on the light. The lens is obviously heavy. That's just a fact, not a criticism. I do wish that Nikon would incorporate an Arca-Swiss groove into the lens foot, and come up with a more practical 'lens cap'. It's a lot of money, but I think it was well spent.

Works absolutely great with the EF 500/4L on the 1DsIII, best way to become 1000mm. i dont think a EF 800 with 1.4x extender bring out pics on a higher level so is also the cheaper way to have 1000mmm with autofocus.
