It makes the image sharper. It seems to be very high quality optically.

I ordered a UC-E6 cable for my Coolpix camera on Sept.6 2016 from B&H Electronics. Nikon and most other sites were out of stock for this specific cord.My order was shipped from Brooklyn N.Y. to Wasilla Alaska on the 6th and arrived at my home on the 10th. Great fast wide angle lens. Sharper than the silver sony sel16 f2.8. Fits comfortably with a6000.

The image is very sharp and the focus speed is lightning even at 200mm. I used on K50.

Use it to not only protect the Lens but it also cuts out the haze making a sharper brighter image.

Before you spend more you might want to try out this lens. I spent more...WAY more...for Zeiss glass and L series lenses and my Olympus Pro series 12-40mm lens. While they're all good...so is this lens. Don't let the low price fool you. This lens is well made and I'm completely satisfied with the pictures it provides. Yes, it's a manual focus only lens...but I like that. I use it with my Olympus OM-D E-M1 mirrorless camera. That camera has in-body image stabilization and the ability to zoom in to make it easy to get perfect focus every time. The image stabilization makes me forget I'm 73 years old and sometimes a bit shaky. To top it all off this silver lens looks great on my silver bodied E-M1 (shown with lens, a cheap generic lens hood, and an RRS L plate).
