Linksys Network Router Internet Access Policy Setup

Great router. Granular setup when logged into rather than using an app. Internet speed on home network tripled. The old wifi 5 router could not absorb the bandwidth being provided by the cable company. Buy it. You won't be disappointed! 5 |

I purchased this router along with a UAP-AC-LR access point. They work great together and the configuration allows me to power both units with a single power brick. At some point I may get a second access point, and this configuration allows for some expansion. In terms of setup, there are a wizards which will allow you to get up and running quickly. I personally did not find find this router's GUI any more confusing than others that I have used. Setting up any wireless network takes some fiddling, so if you are having trouble figuring things out yourself, ask your tech savvy friend for help! One thing I will say is that this router does allow for one to shoot themselves in the foot due to its vast configuration options. My router is connected directly to a CenturyLink fiber box for internet. This requires somewhat of a custom setup as it uses PPPoE and a special VLAN setting. Well, it turns out that after setting all of that up, I had somehow disabled the firewall and did not realize it until I saw a couple of failed login attempts in the security log. Long story short is to double check your settings before heading out to lunch :) Oh, and stability is amazing :) I am currently showing 2 weeks and 6 days of up time and still trucking along strong. Overall, it seems that building a home network using a separate router and access points is the way to go. I am very happy that I decided to move away from the all-in-one model. 5 |

I changed over my home network from a Linksys wrt3200 ACM router and have everything running thru my Ubiquiti network. I truly enjoy all the statistical data that's provided to monitor your network. I feel everything was easy to setup and configure. I have also experience a speed upgrade on my network. 5 |

Oh, I like this router. I like it a lot. It is tiny. It is probably a quarter of the size of the consumer router from Cisco/Linksys, prior to the Belkin acquisition of Linksys, that it replaced. It is also a managed switch so it is much more feature packed. It can handle multiple VLANs, VPN, Firewall rules, NAT rules with DMZ roles, and the list goes on. Here is the negative: It is a managed router with an interface designed for professional network engineers. I have worked in IT professionally for nearly 25 years and I am extremely grateful that Ubiquiti included the WAN+2LAN2 Wizard as part of their management software. I was reading through the software manual to set the router up and I am thinking, I see how to configure DHCP, I see how to configure internal routes, now how do I set this up to use DHCP on one of the network ports that I plug in to the cable modem and set up that route to the private network served by this routers DHCP server through NAT? It turns out the afore mentioned wizard sets up that exact configuration which can then be easily tweaked once all the parts are in place. And that wizard matters because unlike a consumer router, there is not a dedicated jack to plug in to your modem; any of the five jacks can be configured in that role or any other role. Basically, this little guy can make your network as intricate as you can conceive with five network ports. Even with the wizard it is more involved than setting up a consumer router, but a little reading of the manual for individuals not familiar with the terms being used and it should not be much more difficult. As a final note, the manual can be downloaded from the manufacturers website and if it looks overwhelming then this probably is not the product for you. 5 |

Delivers over 260 mbps in my home cable linksys / mesh wifi setup, without getting into advanced network tweaking, etc. Plug in and run speed test... that's all 5 |

I purchased this AP to replace a Linksys EA6900 router that I had setup as an AP. I am VERY satisfied. The setup did require me to contact tech support which was also very helpful. It was only a minor issue but if you are not familiar with networking, don't hesitate to contact them. The AP provides very good range and led signals to help indicate the status. I have set this AP up in my attic and also utilized the USB port on the AP to install an AC Infinity USB fan since it is in the attic. The AP is very light and small in terms of size. The Unif Controller is very helpful in managing the AP but remember, it cannot be managed remotely. You must connect your laptop to the router or switch in order to manage the AP. The controller provides many tools to help your identify which AP is being widely used and which devices are connected to which AP. I slowly converted out of Linksys Routers that I had set up as APs. Although my routing is being done by a Linksys WRT1900 ACS which is a great combo! Overall, the AP is very reliable and provides great range. The current price is perfect and you should definitely consider implementing one into your network! 5 |

We are only a month in but I am really liking this way of doing our home wireless internet! 5 access points through the house are giving us great coverage. The other cool part is that with the software our guy installed we have a home network, a guest network and can build out more for other uses like a security camera system, one just for the kids devices (that we can then control the hours the network is on) and all kinds of other great features and reports. Not normal to do this for a house but I would recommend it... and these... to about anyone at this point! 5 |

Fast Router. Feels like a quality made product, more like an industrial or enterprise product feel. I have my SB8200 cable modem on eth0, home office on eth1, and Linksys mesh network on eth2. It took me about 30 mins to setup being new to this type of router. Used basic wizard to setup. Made sure NAT was enabled. Firewall is enabled. I had to reset cable modem to get things going. I used various videos on you tube for setup help. Router CPU and RAM barely get used during testing of several 4K Video Streams, ip phone calls, file transfers, and speed tests running at the same time. My COX gigablast connection runs at full speed most of the time. I still need to do some real throughput testing, machine to machine on local network. I use Airflow and VLC to cast 4K content from home office to my living room entertainment center. I definitely noticed a time difference. It simply takes less time for actions to engage and finish. I can tell it has a better brain. Time will tell with reliability but I suspect it will be my router for a long time. So far, I'm happy with its performance. 5 |

I want to start off by saying this is not a router so if you want to connect it directly to your modem look elsewhere. I upgraded from the original unifi access point to this one and it was a breeze to setup. Although setting up the controller software can be tricky to install on Linux but fairly straightforward on Mac and Windows. This device greatly increased my network speeds over my wireless network, I went from about 10 MB/sec to around 50 MB/s, but this was over my local network which is all gigabit in my house, internet speeds will vary depending on your internet plan. Before I used to hardwire my computer to transfer large files to my backup storage but now I can do it wirelessly in about the same time. Also another handy feature I found is you can scan the rf spectrum to see what other devices are causing interference and assist accordingly and also detect rogue access points that might be trying to fool devices into connecting to them instead of your network, all handy features if you want to run these in a business. Overall you can't go wrong with this device if you want reliability and a high performance access point and they are one of the cheapest but still perform the same as the high prices one. I would regiment to anyone looking for a great wireless network. 5 |
