Works great in pfSense. Plug and play also in Linux. Can now take full advantage of my fiber internet speed.

Plugged into Windows, Linux, and Macbook. On the Macbook I went through a USB-C to USB-A hub, and got full speed. Tried on an older Lenovo laptop (USB2.0) and the port didn't provide enough power. The cable is sturdy without being too stiff, and is "just right" as to length (in my opinion). Cable-to-connector junctions are solid and reinforced with extra plastic (almost like an RJ-45 boot). The drive-side connector is really beefed up, compared to some of the other USB-to-SATA adapters I've tried. So I think this one would last much longer than they did. No drivers, no extras, nothing else needed. It just works, and at full speed. Definitely going in the "repair bag". I received this product in exchange for an unbiased review.

I was using a homebrew Linux server for my Plex system. That machine died due to a power fluctution (looking at you First Energy). This was chosen as a replacement. Very much easier to manage, although not quite as versatile as a general prupose Linux system (then again NOTHING is as versatile).

For some reason, Linux is not listed as a compatible system. This device works out of the box without any issues on every Linux distro I tried it on (mainly Fedora and Ubuntu).

I used this to build a linux firewall server. The old server that I had was destroyed by a lightning strike. So far, the new system is doing the job.

I have been using Samsung 500gb SSDs as system drives for my z840 workstation, but recently gave the PNY a chance and am very pleased. I like having spare drives like this around as I keep one for Windows and another for Linux. I also clone my drives before doing any complicated updates or installs (especially since I am very inexperienced with Linux). The 500gb size is perfect size to hold my OS, since all of my media is saved to a 4xTB NVME M.2 RAID. I highly recommend PNY 500gb SATA SSD
